You are so wrong, they paid Texas 15 million dollars per year when they were in the B12 and the SEC had no say in the matter with ESPN holding all the cards

I mean even the Texas vs Oklahoma rivalry game doesn’t draw as big of an audience as most SEC rivalries
Lol if only one teams is ranked and the other isn’t, then that’s what happens. It’s not like Georgia-Auburn or the iron bowl draw huge audiences when one team is great and the other team (Auburn usually) already has 5 losses, that kind of explains itself, no?

And you’re using the worst period in Texas football history to skew that data

Alabama vs Ole Miss has been a bigger national draw the last decade than the Red River Rivaly.

This is what I’m talking about.
Shocker: the single greatest period in ole miss history coinciding with the single worst period in Texas history results in more viewership

No wonder Auburn was ranked so low in the most recent US News rankings

Texas rarely being ranked when playing OU the past 15 years is not the flex you think it is.

So the last 13 seasons are the worst period in Texas football history? Good to know.

Bowing up that you’ve been beneath Ole Miss for 13 years is quite something.

6th out of 16 in the SEC isn’t bad. My Auburn diploma is hanging on my office wall as I type this. I’m going to guess you just got off your shift at Whataburger to try to argue that your sidewalk alma matre is some type of academic juggernaut compared to the rest of the SEC.

Your diploma doesn't mean much if you believe that. In the latest rankings of academic schools in the SEC, the top two were Vandy and Texas.

Didn’t say that at all. Your comprehension is lacking. I simply said to this point… Texas has befitted more than the SEC has. Never once said that the SEC hasn’t benefitted. That would be incorrect.

You seem on edge about any perceived slight toward Texas. LOL

The fact we brought more eyeballs but not more revenue is Sankey's failure.

Does Taco Bell still give out free Texas Longhorn tickets with a 10 dollar purchase?

Texas may have, but i don't think so for Oklahoma. OU is one the most winningest teams in the nation these past 20 years, but I don't see that continuing now for them here.

lol you know that game in Jordan-Hare next year going to be insane. And they probably have that Oklahoma game circled next to Bama.

We don’t play Auburn next year. The schedule flips

it wasn’t meant to be a flex, dumbass. The point clearly went over your head

Yes. And the fact that we’re already head and shoulders better than auburn again is even more hilarious

Holy shite you have completely lost the plot

ironic considering Texas is second in the sec and an Auburn diploma is considered toilet paper to the rest of us

Dumbass can’t even spell “Alma mater” correctly. Some education you got there

we befitted more? So we’re a better fit for the sec than the sec is a fit for us? Gotta say, hard to disagree with you there. SEC values premier athletic programs but we don’t really fit in with hillbillies

Not really. Just trying to understand logic from a graduate of a vastly inferior school as rankings showed us earlier today LOL

Not surprised OU’s numbers were comparatively low; playing Iowa State at 11 am on regional cable doesn’t move the needle much. Check back in 5 years, id expect OU and Texas games to be in the top third of SEC viewership.

I agree it's a big rivalry in the MW, but may I ask why you need 5 year to make it to the top 1/3? It's the UTx tv's that brought you into this conferences, you bring almost nothing.

You will never top

We have? Have they renegotiated the TV deals yet? Cause Sankey dropped the ball not doing that when they joined. Probably cost the conference millions.

UTx has a huge fan base from a huge state, that's why they are here, I never wanted it, the two most arrogant fan bases in the same conference, but their TVs bring money.

You’re kind of dense.

The OP used 12 years of viewership statistics comparing SEC teams with prime time slots on CBS/ABC to a team that played mostly at 11 am on regional Fox broadcasts. Of course our numbers will be lower, hence “give it 5 years” means let’s see how OU’s viewership increases when paying the Alabamas and Georgias of the world on prime time national TV.

Your point of “Texas has more tvs” probably sounded great to you, but to everyone else it’s a blinding flash of the obvious. Yes, Texas with their 32 million people have more tvs than Oklahoma’s 4 million. OU’s viewership extends beyond its borders, and now that they are playing top-tier opponents to a larger audience their numbers will increase. So yes, to the OPs point, joining the SEC will significantly increase OU’s average viewership numbers. To say OU “brings almost nothing” to the table is one of the more idiotic things I’ve heard on this board, and that’s saying something.
