any talk of momentum and expansion has to include Manziel, and perhaps to begin with him. And the question has to be asked: Will it end with his departure?
Sumlin laughs. Ever confident, he recites a partial list of quarterbacks he has coached, whether as a head coach or an assistant. Included: Drew Brees, Jason White, Sam Bradford, Case Keenum. They all had different styles. They all won. Extrapolated, Sumlin's point is that in college football, changing rosters is among the few constants.
"We've been around really, really good quarterbacks everywhere we've been," he says, "whether it's here or Houston or Oklahoma or Purdue. At what point is it not just coincidence? I'll just put it that way."

He can absolutely coach QBs. I expect aTm to have great QB play as long as Sumlin is there. Just gotta recruit some athletes to the other side of the ball.

well after 3rd and 4th place finishes in the SEC West in 2012 and 2013 I think they can definitely improve

Too bad we can't recruit, say, the best D lineman in the nation
oh wait
oh wait

Me thinks Cobra is really stretching it trying to get credit for some of those guys.

So you think him having above average to exceptional QB play almost every season he's been a head coach or coordinator is just a coincidence?

Great. Get those flag football DBs fixed and you're rockin and rollin.

If the defense improves by 10%, we can get 20% less production out of the QB and win more games.

Wont matter who is QB is if that D sucks as bad as it did last year.

I don't think anyone really cares about what Sumlin did at Purdue or any other previous job. Be competitive in the SEC and earn respect... or just talk yourself up at a press conference. Whatever.

Too bad they'll smoke too much pot to make a difference.

You don't think he's been competitive?

I didn't say it means nothing. I said no one cares. Congrats on the impressive QB play; you weren't competitive in your conference.

He has the same record as Miles the last 2 years so apparently LSU hasn't been competitive either
