We will agree to disagree but you at least concede we are better than teams that will make the playoffs.

And I agree with you, the committee won’t look at us because of 3 losses. Hence no osu type games from now on. A 10-2 Texas we aren’t having this convo. We are probably ranked 7-9 and are clearly in the cfp even with the exact same season.

Previous poster said it best, sometimes you get unlucky and I agree. But I sure as hell are not making that mistake twice and I’m clearing my future OOc schedule period

You’re assuming you wouldn’t have lost a 3rd game to someone else

And beating Ohio state might have gotten you in with a 9-3 record because of the win

Your logic is flawed because it only considers the possibilities that affirm your skewed beliefs

Yes I’m assuming had we scheduled a weak opponent like so many others did we win that game. True no way to tell if that’s a W but we can all agree it’s a better shot than undefeated OSU.

Texas could easily schedule a perennial bottom BIG, ACC, or Big 12 team and give a high possibility of a win. I’m sure that we can both agree on.

Maybe beating OSU and the say losing to MSU get Texas in this year at 9-3.

The problem is we are not all playing the same type of games period.

When SOS is so clearly ignored it allows for teams to ignore the one aspect they control (their ooc) to fluff up their Ws. That’s the issue and problem I have. Either make teams play real teams in the ooc or severely ding them for not.

Josh pate said the committee is considering moving to a point system where easy game is weighted. For example
Texas this year would have gotten 5 points for going on the road and losing to osu but 0 points for beating a terrible teams on the road.

Not saying that’s perfect either but it incentivizes what we all want, big time matchups in ooc. If you are not going to incentivize that and penalize a team for it, then it’s going to go away

We beat a true blue blood number 6 ranked team on the road at night

So we did what you didn’t do

With a clear as day hold to lose the game, but yes you did win that game and good for you for scheduling them.
Atm isn’t the problem.

Somebody should post that so the Tech white knighters and the "A&M played the worst schedule eva!" people can tell us why it doesn't matter.

SOS isn’t being ignored

It’s just all you’ve got

You needed to beat the really really bad teams on your schedule and you didn’t

Is there a way to change your schedule next year to only play “bowl eligible” teams? If so, I’m sure a lot of coaches would sign up to only play 6-6 teams.

There's mac and sunbelt teams that play multiple big ten and sec teams ooc that would unintentionally get a massive boost if they did this.

Not saying it’s perfect. Those Mac and American teams those wouldn’t play enough top 25 teams in conference for it to matter. I think it’s the way they should go

3 top 15 wins is all we have. Better than any team in the country. I value that more than a bad loss at Flordia

The fact that Ohio State is at the top just fully demonstrates what a horribly useless stat this is...

though the Tennessee portion is quite amusing.

3 top 15 wins . . . Better than any team in the country.

The problem is, before the season started when they set down the criteria to make the CFP, no one bothered to include this.

If they had Texas would be right there at the top of the list of teams to get into the CFP.

The fact is at the end of the regular season someone had to look at all the team's schedules and results to find this tidbit.

It is interesting, no doubt, perhaps even a stat the Committee will take note of but in and of itself means nothing to anyone outside of Austin, TX.

But you don’t just have 1 loss

You have 3

You were down 2 touchdowns to Ohio state until garbage time and Georgia blew you out

Or it shows the overemphasis on subjective rankings. Missouri and Washington for example are both 8-4 but you guys get to count Missouri as a ranked win while Washington isnt a ranked win. Of course you want to keep the subjective measures rather than objective data points when they benefit you.

78-37-5

You're correct again Marge, in the whole scheme of things it's just another easy W.
