Had it been only one team with issues then I might agree with you. It wasn’t.

How did the Falcons and Carolina players dodge this pebble gremlin?

I don’t watch either one of those trash teams besides when they play the saints so I have no clue nor do I care. I’m going off what I saw during the LSU/UGA game.

Since I do, I can tell you it was not a problem for them. Do you not realize that seeing players sliding around has two possible situations. Turf problems and cleat problems. You aren't even recognizing that.

Is awesome based on watching dozens of football (pro, college, and high school) and soccer. Too bad every time someone slipped Danielson whined about it and you fell for it. Injuries happen.

You aren't very good at researching shite. Theres even a study showing how it leads to less injuries

While not related to football, there has been research involving what seems to be a disproportionately high rate of cancer among soccer goalkeepers who play on artificial turf, which affects a disproportionate amount of women, since there's more women's soccer at the collegiate level.

Most of the cancers are blood cancers...leukemia, Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkins lymphoma. It's not difficult to imagine...the numbers of times during practices and games that a goalkeeper slides on the turf and gets abrasions, opening up opportunities for the bloodstream to be exposed to the rubber.

A football player whose only exposure is workouts in the team's indoor facility and maybe 5 or 6 games a year probably has nothing to worry about. A goalkeeper who dives on the stuff 50+ times every day may have more to be concerned about.

Some suggest the research is flawed or incomplete. More should probably be done.

Here is one recent story about the issue. There are many articles out there. The U. of Washington coach who has been on this crusade has a list of 264 athletes that contracted cancer...205 were soccer players and 121 were goalkeepers.

that is something I never heard of and is truly fascinating

when I first starting reading your post I passed it off as bs, but after some digging you (the studies) seem to be onto something

interesting to say the least, and it makes complete sense. I am sure we need much more data before a conclusion can be made. that's the hard part with cancer studies, SOOO many factors involved.

Don’t know if this is true or not but someone posted that they roll out new turf for these games because it easier than removing and painting new logos. If that is true then that would explain why the falcons didn’t have any issues.

you would think there would be corresponding research associated w “Natural” turf, which from what I know about what it takes to grow grass like that would seem to expose the kids to an AWFUL lot of chemicals. but maybe it doesn’t nowadays?

One really big issue with that study.........

I don't remember it being a problem the last couple of times UGA has played there. I thought UGA brought the wrong cleats because it seemed to effect them more than LSU. It seems like there were way more rubber pellets than usual.

UGA played in the Mercedes the previous two years without experiencing a slipping problem. Something was different this year. LSU didn't seem to be adversely affected as UGA was.

Do the Falcons play on the same field all the time? Do they have more injuries than other NFL teams? Was something done to the turf recently? Is this turf worse than other turf?

I feel like the answers to these 4 questions will be

Yes
No
No
No

What makes you feel that nothing was done to the turf prior to the game?

I’m sure the field is maintained throughout the season and it looked as if players on both teams were having a difficult time getting their footing when making a hard cut.

I recognize it, but this isn't the first time college teams played there. You are in denial that your nfl team had a shite field, you aren't even recognizing that. Take your blinders off.

Yeah. Looked like the players were just wearing the wrong type of cleats.

why is that?

Because they can easily wash off the paint. Quite often they play a soccer game the day before or after a football game and you can never tell there was another event.

That's not true in this case.

Saw a new story on this a year or two ago. The crumbs are unregulated and are from who knows where. It's messing up some lives.
