The receiver wasn't magically wide open. He was open for a split second because of how well Tua disguised the pass and how quickly he made the decision and released the ball with elite arm strength and spin on it. It was cover 2 with a corner and safety both assigned to Smith.

The touch Tua put on that pass is really underrated. It wasn't like he just chunked it up and hoped for the best. Too much air, and the safety could make a play. If it was under thrown, Parrish would've gotten the opportunity to catch up.

There are a ton of still shots that show agony/ecstasy of that last play. Here's a Getty Images shot of Mr. College Football Tony Barnhart ( Georgia Grad ) looking less than impressed.

I hope Georgia fans, and Mr. College Football find some relief.

Was the most perfect throw for the situation. No other QB in the game (that's right, NONE) could have put that ball on the money like that.

He’s the most overrated “journalist” in College Sports.

Other than the woman giving a great "O" face, that was an amazing lack of emotion out of that entire group along the sideline.

Tua would be a nice first rounder for the Saints in a few years.

In all seriousness, the ball at its apex going across the #CFBPLAYOFF in the background is the closest thing for perfect accidental marketing to Tiger Woods Nike golf ball falling into the hole I’ve ever seen. Sweet video.

Also, on a serious note, the reason he was wide open was because Tua kept the safety tight on the hash by looking him off with his head and eyes

I’m probably in the minority but i kind of like Barnhart. However, i only ever hear him on Doug Mathews Saturday morning football show (Doug’s a fricking treasure).

FWIW, that play is literally unbelievable. I sincerely feel for my UGA brothers because I know they experienced the opposite of the extreme “can’t believe it” high that i did. I hope Bama wins it every year, but if they don’t, I really will pull that UGA does (at least for one).
