Truth is, if Lanning or Sark said yes, non-gumps would’ve been better off.

Based on your other takes, I support this post.

Nobody will know until down the road.

We’ll see how the current roster and recruiting class holds together, and we’ll see how he recruits while coaching in the south for the first time.

What? I'm extremely happy that they didn't get Lanning, Sark, or Norvell. The DeBoer hire is a risk. Not a huge risk, but still a risk.

I believe Sexton controlled the narrative,
took advantage and Bama/Byrne got the guy they wanted.

Lanning, Sark or Norvell would’ve been a risk as well. Give me the guy who led Washington to its best season ever over the two coaches who were winless against him and the guy who lost his last game by 60.

I think that is true regarding Lanning

Definitely. A program like Bama doesn't need coaches with silly things like experience or regional recruiting connections.

A single season or two should be more than enough evidence of superiority. Doesn't seem flimsy at all.

Proud of you Bama.

You'll know in about 3 years or so. DeBoer appears to be the best in-game coach, but mediocre or less at everything else. He's like an inverse Mario Cristobal.

Word is, neither were offered the job. But yes, Alabama did get the best guy.

Lanning and Sark are far better

Than the guy they both keep losing to?

Ok.

Recruiting is easier now than it's ever been. It's driven almost exclusively by NIL money (which Alabama is filthy with) and the transfer portal.

Recruits and their families won't give a shite about geography. Say the right things in the living room about NIL and it's a done deal.
