It's pure (and warranted) jealousy borne out of the very simple notion "That's supposed to be us."

Nick Saban came to LSU and turned the program into something it never once was--a perennial national championship contender. We found our coach and we won the title that eluded Baton Rouge for 50 years. The program was heading in a direction of uncharted territory and surely more championships were to come (and one did).

Like most of us knew he would, he left and pursued his opportunity in the NFL. That was tough, but acceptable because that was the normal track for top coaches back then i.e. Spurrier.

Then he came back. Not only to college football, or even the SEC, but to the SEC West. And to a program that had already experienced sustained success over a number of decades. LSU fans knew what was about to happen. But it was supposed to happen 4 years prior with LSU. Instead, Saban built the best program in the history of the sport two states over. And LSU has courtside seats for the whole thing. Almost staring into a mirror, or a parallel universe, watching someone else have what was supposed to be ours.

Alabama's run with Saban will go down as the best ever. And all college football fans should appreciate what they are accomplishing. LSU fans would just appreciate it a lot more if he was doing it with someone else.

That depends on who you ask. I saw more lsu fans saying he wouldn't have the same kind of success and he would be gone in 4 years

Sorry Hoss but you are wrong. LSU would have never reached the level of Alabama because the LSU male fanbase would never desire to stand in line to be the first to give the coach head or a rim job and the candy eater knew this.

horseshite! Y'all told us from the get go that he'd...

- Never be as successful at Bama as he was at LSU
- Never be able to recruit at the level he did at LSU
- Never stay longer than a couple of years
- Never build anything sustainable at Bama
- Never have an undefeated season
- Never get to ATL with any regularity
- Never stay because he's money hungry
- Never win an NC at Bama

That's all we fricking heard until he proved y'all wrong. Then came the over signing, the cheating, the bought & paid for SEC refs, the favorable scheduling, the cross-division rivalry advantage, the ncaa/emmerrt, the SEC office in B'ham, and even as recent as 7 fricking days ago even more of the SEC refs conspiracy theories where y'all actually paid for billboards & fricking banners to fly over the stadium.

Don't come back a decade later and tell Bama fans that LSU fans knew what was about to happen when the took the Bama job. You are lying and you know it.

There’s no guarantee that Saban would’ve had the same results at LSU that he’s had with Bama, but I understand your point.

Back in the day, I was pissed off at Aggie for Fran. Then 77-0 happened and I was okay.

Hell, LSU sits at #7 in the country with 2 losses and it's very likely you win out and finish 11-2 for the season and your board has folks wanting to shite can Ensminger and are bashing CEO in some threads. Y'all can't even get your fan base to see and appreciated what you have at this very moment because BAMA/Saban clouds your vision.

It's been damn near 15 yrs, let it go.

This has never been a label for LSU football.

Why you telling me this? I let it go when he left. I had no ill will that he left. Man wanted to try something else, wanted to live a dream of coaching in the NFL. There is not a damn thing wrong with that. I do know for a fact that he called Bertman and asked about a possible return a couple of weeks after he had left, but Coach Miles was pretty much already signed sealed and delivered by that time.

It didn't work out for him and he wanted out. Alabama had an opening and he took it. It is everyday America, people change jobs. No big deal

Yes we are!

LSU sticks their toe in the NC conversation every now and then, but that’s hardly considered perennial.

With the talent that is in the state and that we can recruit here we should be in the national championship picture every year, but we are not.

Hell, I can respect his post for the most part. He said what most people know and too few LSU fans will admit. They are jealous of Saban and Bama
