Yes! Drawn in like a moth to the flame.
Techno,
question for ya, which SEC team has the 2nd biggest national championship trophy case ya think? And what do you think is the square footage?

This belongs on the Texas board. We get no love on this one.
I knew that.
I just can't help but smile, that every time a sports thought enter my mind, I just remember the past 10 years of SEC! SEC SEC! Their observation of Texas, as in the last 20 years, and "... they are soft, small, entitled, lazy, a cancer, a cesspool, whatever..., Texas won't be able to compete in the SEC, probably not even stand up to them, the top to bottom strength, etc ."
And then, Texas knocks their dick in the dirt and SWEEPs them off the field, and reality sets in, the goal posts get moved, from not even be competitive to none of that even matters.
Every A&M grad I worked with had a picture of the scoreboard in their office, that showed that time A&M beat Texas. That also makes me smile. Yes, it matters.
At least some of them recognize we may be able to compete after all.

However, in the SEC, National Titles are the standard, not SEC trophies.
A national championship is the ultimate prize, but a championship in the biggest, baddest, toughest conference in America is a big arse deal. LSU has hung a banner and LSU fans on tRant have crowed for months and years for every one they’ve ever won.

Results matter and trophies come with them. Texas, like Oklahoma, is lacking in that department in football.
True but all we can do as fans is just root for the team and hope it’s our year. It may never happen again in my lifetime, but it won’t stop me from watching. That’s the great thing about this conference. It’s always going to be exciting, regardless of our record

Yes, your post Ptins944 makes total sense with respect to aggie. The aggies were all incessantly rubbing our noses in it ever since they joined the SEC.
Your post also makes total sense with respect to Alabama. Every Longhorn I know just hated the way we lost our QB and our last attempt at a national championship vs. the Crimson Tide.
That QE touchdown pass to Worthy in Tuscaloosa in the game that effectively ended Saban’s reign was a great moment for Longhorns and a great moment in sports. For me, second only to watching Vince Young beat USC in the Rose Bowl to win the 2005 National Championship. I was fortunate enough to watch that game in person.
We have not beat Georgia lately with that goal still out there. Texas vs. Georgia in the upcoming season will not just be a Texas fan only grudge match, but a huge, dramatic national event.
Opposing SEC fans can call us entitled, laugh, whatever. But it should be pretty evident by now that Texas is passionate about winning football and winning almost all other sports. Since the SEC competes with the B1G for national eyeballs and high school recruits, and Texas football has become nationally relevant again, I do think the upcoming marquee matchups vs. Texas will definitely only support the SEC brand.
Thanks to all the other SEC fans who love college sports. It’s great to be here…

I get it. SEC fans are a lot more unforgiving and arrogant than Big 12 fans and that's okay that's what you want.
OU kept hearing your reign in softball and gymnastics is over now that you play in the mighty SEC. You were only good because Big 12 yet here we are.

frick that, I desperately need Texas to win a title, so that insurance salesmen on the internet can no longer disparage our athletic department :(
Texas "resources" are showing up in the NIL era. In football there are several other schools that can hang with them as far as doling out cash...
In Men's basketball... there are maybe a few other sports that can shell out even a little more.
In any other sport... nobody else can touch them. Texas has deep enough pockets they can even NIL women's rowing team members.

We've had the unique pleasure of watching Texas play as the #1 Team in Football and #1 Team in Baseball in the same year. As a representative of the vaunted SEC! SEC! SEC!
Did you have that on your Bingo card? When was the last time you could say the same?
This year…
