By my calculations, UT is spending $11.8 million a year for the next five years to have Pruitt as their coach, plus support staff.

Is he worth it?

Saban costs $7m a year, for reference.

We'll find out in a few years. His staff is shaping up to be really impressive for a 1st year HC.

The fact he's not walking around the complex talking about the "VALS" is already a huge improvement.

Pruitt is Boom on physcological steroids. His staff will hate him and the rage he brings works great on d but stability and patience is what it takes on o to develop young players.

One bad hire saddles you for years. Sad that this is the new norm.

No definitely not worth it but explains why the hire was let's just get who we can who will excite the base at a minimum. I don't think Pruitt lasts long there.

$11.8M for Bert's buyout.
$4.625M for Jeff Long's buyout.
Plus buyouts from all of the assistants.

I just went with the first thing that popped up on google, that's probably with incentives and bonuses etc, which I also have not calculated in the OP for Pruitt, so it's still apples to apples, I reckon.

Well about 30 programs every year feel like they should have a top ten team. That bottleneck makes it hard to bounce back from bad decisions.
