I can’t think of anyone specific who should be ahead of him but I have a hard time believing RC is on that list.

He had a great run in the 90s which included several 10+ win seasons.

I'm really surprised that Bo Schembechler doesn't have a national championship. His name is synonymous with Michigan football and I would have just assumed he had at least one.

The best coach on that list is Bill Snyder

Yes. Snyder was a great coach. Would loved to have seen what he could have done at a major program.

NCAA recognizes 1960 for Vaught. Kelly and Broyles have titles too

He was 5-12 in bowls. So he lost a quite a bit of chances to win a title.

Schembechler definitely the best coach to not have finished first in 1 of those polls.

Second is probably Beamer.

That is actually a pretty damn good list.

Snyder definitely is a top notch coach, he would have won Natties at a nighttime CFB school no doubt.

Honestly I’d put Snyder at 1. Dude took wet garbage and made them a top 25 program and he wasn’t running gimmicky shite to get there.

Bo went 2-8 in the Rose Bowl.
Hard to rank Snyder considering the colossal choke jobs he pulled against inferior opponents in 98 and 2012.

Bob stoops would be the unanimous #1 if he never got that one in 2000

Did you make that graphic in PowerPoint? For a post on this board? For a post that is just a list?

same for Bobby Dodd in 1952; their championship from 1952 is far more legit than at least 3 that Alabama claims...

if you don't want to count that year, Dodd should be much higher on the list; especially after winning 31 straight from 1951-1953

and I say this as a Georgia alum...

To add to that Dodd should've won the 1951 National Championship as well. Tech went 11-0-1 tying Duke. We won the SEC over Tennessee who also went undefeated but got their asses handed to them in the Sugar Bowl by Maryland. Tech went on to beat Baylor in the Orange Bowl but the AP title had already been awarded to UT. Should've been back-to-back championships.

Another note on the 1952 title. Michigan St. was awarded the AP title and was also undefeated like Tech but they didn't play a bowl game. Tech played #9 Ole Miss in the Sugar Bowl and won 24-7.

AP given titles before the bowls was absurd.

And this is why acknowledgment of MNC’s is best and commonly done as “consensus” 50% of voting polls or more.
