That said, I really like Clowney. That dude is a beast. I could see him getting it, but next year's 'class' is ridiculous. What a crazy good year it is going to be. This will be the longest offseason ever.

I agree.

Hopefully no one's girlfriend dies in the offseason that could have a big impact.

Only if he plays for a non-SEC school, or especially if he plays for Notre Dame or one of the B1G programs.

If a player's girlfriend died in the SEC it would be blamed on the racist, bigoted atmosphere in the South of course.

TBH

I don't want Clowney to win because I believe in Curses (SI Curse, Madden Curse etc)
And the Heisman trophy winner always sucks at the next level. Well more than likely he does.

Clowney is a freak of nature. The biggest stud in forever. He won't suck at the next level if he wins the heisman.

1. Manziel- I personally think he'll dip a tad with game film on him and losing what he does on his line, but you can't argue that the kids a baller.

2. McCarron- Extremely efficient and plays his best on the big stage.

3. Yeldon- Basically whatever back is behind Saban's line will be in the Heisman talk.

4. Clowney- Bar none the best player in the league IMHO, but defensive players just don't get the love.

5. Todd Gurley- I have trouble putting him here because of Marshall but if he takes over the backfield he could be in for a monster year.

What say you?

Move Yeldon to number 1, take off McCarron, and put Jeremy Hill at number 5.

"Guys Ware is the next big thing! Warewolf!" "Ok Hilliard is better than T-Rich RIGHT NOW!" "Alfred Blue for Heisman guise!" "Jeremy Hill darkhorse for Heisman!"

Sure, some LSU people have said that about Ware and Hilliard. I've never come close to even thinking that. Ware was overall just a solid back. Nothing special. He's like a Benjarvus Green Ellis of the Bengals. Hilliard was a TD guy his freshman and thats it. He gets caught from behind way too much and never can break a long 1 when he has acres of grass to run. Not a big Hilliard fan. Blue was our best RB before he got hurt. But that wasn't in SEC play.

Hill, on the other hand,is 6'2 235 RB that has really good speed, vision, patience and can break the long runs unlike Hilliard. He also falls forward every time. I never thought any of our RBs for the past few years were even close to being mentioned in the Heisman talk. Some people were crazy and saying that, but I wasn't 1 of them. Hill is our most gifted RB in the past15 years and will be an elite RB in the NFL. And if he can stay healthy, not get in trouble, and get 17-20 carries a game he will have as good of #s as the top backs in the nation. So why can't I say he could be a dark horse? Your blind if you don't think Hill is an elite talent.

Not sure if this has been said or not but the one thing Clowney has going for him was that hit vs Michigan. He was already well known around the SEC and perhaps around a significant part of CFB but that hit made him famous outside of the CFB world. And lets face it.. no one can win the Heisman these days without the proper exposure / notoriety.

Just looking at the guys listed, Yeldon is in the best position to put up the numbers and get the attention needed for a Heisman campaign.

This has to be it.

before their seasons started whoever heard of or let alone expected Manziel, RG III, Cam, or Ingram to win the Heisman?

Who would have been the last preseason front runner to win the trophy? Reggie Bush?

1) You're*

2) He does NOT have elite talent, he has elite potential. With that said, he isn't a dark horse because of history. It's always the same thing with LSU's backs. They'll frick themselves over or Miles will do it for them.

Then your OC was an idiot for not putting such an elite talent in the game more often
