This is correct. Bama vs LSU would fit better here, or maybe Georgia vs Auburn.

From 2013 to 2023, Alabama is 9-2 vs LSU. Not a rivalry

No.

List is trash. No one cares about Bama UT, feels forced now. OU Texas is not an SEC rivalry, OU will be the new Missouri in that no one sees them as SEC. But it’s also a bigger rivalry game than Bama Auburn.

Those aren't Auburn fans.

it's all a matter of who you ask. For me

1. Texas v Oklahoma
2. Texas v Aggie
3. Texas v Arkansas

I really couldn't give a shite about the others. "Best rivalry" discussions only serve to piss everyone off lol.

Not trying to give a hot take, but the Egg Bowl is way too high. Any rivalry game where you see sections of empty seats on TV is automatically disqualified from the top 5 list.

On top of that, how many times during the desegregation era has the Egg Bowl actually had any national significance or impact on the rankings.

At least 40 percent if not a majority of Georgia fans were rooting for Florida against Ohio State in the national title game that one year. Back when ESPN still had mind control over fans. Still one of the most unfortunate and forgettable moments in Georgia football fandom history.

Number 1 with a bullet: ALABAMA vs The Barn

The Iron Bowl has come along way in the eyes of the bammers in recent years.

Up until the last 10-15 years, Bama fans would clearly put more time, energy, and emotion into the rivalry with Auburn, but the hatred was so great, they tried to belittle the rivalry by claiming Tennessee was really their biggest rival.

I don’t know if it was Auburn playing them tougher than any other SEC program during the Saban years (5 wins straight up and 4 losses in which AU led in the 4th quarter)…. Auburn winning a title in 2010 and playing for another in 2013…. Or Tennessee sucking for a quarter century…

It’s probably a combo of all three. But the vast majority of Bama fans seem to embrace the Iron Bowl rivalry for what it’s always been far more than they did not so long ago.

I don't believe #1 is correct.

I've seen both teams pull for one another when facing off against Georgia.
I'm sure it is a great rivalry.
But that automatically disqualifies it as a rivalry of convenience.
Georgia Florida is more heated than that
It can't be #1.

I'm convinced everyone acts like the Egg Bowl is amazing because they feel bad for Mississippi.

It’s also been the only college game to watch on Thanksgiving night. CFB fans are craving to watch their beloved sport on a long holiday weekend, and on Thursday night, the egg bowl has been the only option.

You move it to Saturday and no one cares about this game.

If we are picking arbitrary points in time, from 2000-2011 LSU was 9-3 against Bama. Certainly not a rivalry at all!

This is correct. Bama vs LSU would fit better here

Interesting data points to see which SEC teams have given good Bama teams the most problems over the years.

*Final AP rankings used, 1936-2023

Wins Against Top 25 Bama teams:

14- Auburn
13- Tennessee
8- LSU
6- Florida, Georgia, Ole Miss
5- Texas
4- Miss St
3- Texas A&M, Vanderbilt
2- Oklahoma, S Carolina, Arkansas, Missouri
0- Kentucky

Winning % Against Top 25 Bama Teams (min of 25 games played):

25.9%- Auburn
24.6%- Tennessee
23.1%- Florida
18.8%- Georgia
17.7%- LSU
15.4%- Ole Miss
7.8%- Miss St
7.7%- Arkansas
7.6%- Vanderbilt
0.0%- Kentucky

Wins Against Top 10 Bama teams:

9- Auburn
6- LSU
5- Tennessee, Texas
4- Florida, Georgia
3- Texas A&M
2- Ole Miss
1- S Carolina, Miss St, Oklahoma, Vandy, Missouri
0- Arkansas, Kentucky

Winning % Against Top 10 Bama Teams (min of 20 games played):

20.9%- Auburn
17.4%- Florida
16.0%- Georgia
14.6%- LSU
13.5%- Tennessee
6.5%- Ole Miss
4.6%- Vanderbilt
2.8%- Miss St
0.0%- Arkansas, Kentucky

Clearly Auburn has been the most formidable against good Bama teams. Tennessee and LSU have had very similar success.

Texas is coming in with a head start… very few meetings but winning records against both Top 10 and Top 25 Bama teams.

LSU was 9-4 through those seasons against Bama (I see you trying to exclude that national title game).

Auburn was 8-4 against Bama in that same time frame.

Bama was not the same in that stretch, and honestly beating them some of those seasons was meaningless.

Most years of the big cocktail party the winner was known well in advance. Regardless of talent. Dooley's years were extremely one-sided. The Spurrier years are the same. In the Richt years, he didn't beat Meyers, no matter the talent. Now the Kirby years are leaning like all the others. This series is so streaky and swings in decades.

Meanwhile, the Iron Bowl is as crazy and unpredictable as it gets from year to year Even when the overwhelming favorite wins, it's often more like a near-death experience. (See last season) That's what a rival game looks like when you really don't like somebody.

The Georgia vs Florida game in comparison is more like a difference of opinion.
