Exactly. They have all done the same in the NFL- nothing. Although I think Mariota is more talented. As the Oregon poster said earlier he is the most accurate Oregon QB out of the Kelly QB's.

my top 5 overall:

1. Teddy Bridgewater

2. AJ McCarron

3. Johnny Manziel

4. Aaron Murray

5. Brett Hundley or Marcus Mariota

Breakout candidate: Braxton Miller (Ohio St.) I think with another season under Urban Meyer he could break out even bigger than last season and become a top 5.

Great athlete and great in y'alls offense but his NFL chances are not that terrific.

He is getting a 2nd round draft grade. His mechanics are stellar.

Just a tag-on to the last post, so it doesn't look like homerism and sunshine pumping:

According to Saint Louis coach Darnell Arceneaux, Mariota's throwing motion is almost identical to a current quarterback who's pretty darn good. "I can tell you right now, Marcus will be THE best passer of anyone (at Oregon)," Arceneaux said. "His throwing motion looks a lot like Andrew Luck's. He's a thrower first, a natural thrower with running ability. You don't know how many coaches have been knocking on my door asking if he's still committed to Oregon," Arceneaux said. "Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, everyone. You name the school, they've been here. But he's very excited about Oregon." Oregonlive

Arceneaux's St. Louis' high school has been a D1 qb factory.

Manziel, AJ and Bridgewater aren't negotiable. After those three there are 5-6 guys who have a legit argument for the last two spots. Personally, I wouldn't put Braxton Miller in there. He has ok numbers against slow, shitty Big 10 talent.

More of an athlete as of last season. I think he may have taken a major step forward in the offseason. Will be fun to see.

Before now I've never read that people were considering him on the elite level of next year's QB's.

Only because of the RGIII/zone-read fad. NFL defenses with their talent and speed will figure it out over the offseason, snuff it out this year and there goes any chance Mariota had to be a legitimate NFL QB. Most decent 5A Texas QBs could complete 65% of their passes in Oregon's offense. Mariota's completion percentage is smoke and mirrors much like Vince Young's was.

Well if that's someone's argument then they would have to say the same thing about Manziel.

Go to the film and compare Manziel's throws to Mariota's. Literally nobody outside the state of Oregon believes Mariota could have made those throws to Swope or the TD to Kennedy against Bama.

Oregon's offense routinely produces two thing: Easy throws to releasing backs/TEs and wide arse open receivers up the seem. 73% of Mariota's throws were under ten yards. Only 56% of Manziel's were. Manziel averaged almost an entire yard more per completion DESPITE A&M as a whole averaging fewer yards after catch than Oregon.

The completion percentage is not what is getting him that grade. It's his mechanics, poise, his size, his throwing motion, accuracy and his football IQ. People around the Oregon program (position coaches there for nearly 30) are saying he is the most talented and physically gifted qb to come through the program.

Mariota is not Masoli or Darron Thomas. Everyone knew Darron Thomas was not NFL quality and every Duck fan was scratching their head after he left early. THE WRITING WAS ON THE WALL. It was obvious to even Darron Thomas as RS SENIOR that he was going to back up the kid coming off his redshirt.

You are talking out of your arse.

Oh, so people employed by Oregon are claiming an Oregon player is awesome?

Your logic isn't even fit for the free boards on Rivals. Go sell your JV knowledge somewhere else.

Which is like saying Manziel isn't Stephen McGee or Jerrod Johnson. So fricking what?

Breakdown the throwing motions on film since you are such the expert. His high school coach that puts out D1 qbs almost every year says his motion looks like Andrew Luck's. But I am suppose to trust your opinion, Roger?

We can throw out stats all day long but the bottom line is Manziel will be docked for SIZE and off the field matters. Mariota may have questions because of the system but NFL analyst will love his mechanics, poise, accuracy and his SIZE/Character. Unlike Manziel, Mariota isn't a circus act asking people to walk a day in his shoes. He could've played in any offensive system because he is that good.

I honestly think Mariota could be the best QB in the country next year. It depends on how much losing Chip Kelly hurts them, which is still yet to be seen. I'm bored as shite with no sports to watch so I've been on youtube watching a bunch of games I didn't get to see last year and he is as sound a QB as anyone.
