Ive been to Notre Dame vs. USC at Notre Dame. I understand that the stadium is old school and they dont have a jumbotron and the seats are so small and close that everyone sits on top of each other because of tradish, but come on, it fricking blows hard. The fans are polite and everyone remains sitting THE ENTIRE GAME. Being used to SEC mad houses, I almost had an aneurysm.

I wish we`d stop the best stadium lists. Not trying to discredit anybodies ranking on whatever list but its all bullshite. Writers are usually bias, haven`t been to the stadium, or they visited the stadium for a BIG game or an ehh game. Its all about what you look for in a stadium as well. So many lists account for concessions and how comfortable the seats are, etc. All NFL ploys to attract more people. This is college football. You know if you have a top tier stadium. I only care about bad arse things like capacity, history, HD screens, and atmosphere/crowd noise. Capacity is often misinterpreted as crowd noise. The big ten has tons of huge stadiums, but they are either designed in a way that doesn`t magnify noise, or they just arent a vocal crowd.

I know one thing. I`ve sat in the student section for 4 games and sat on the 50 opposite of it for the SC game. Its the loudest I`ve heard in 3 years. Given we have a lot more to cheer for, but I`ve never seen or heard of people covering their ears like I did at the clemson/sc game.

I've been to ACC, Pac Ten, Big XII, and Big Ten sites. The closest thing to a SEC atmosphere was at Oklahoma.

A&M and Texas over Jordan Hare? Texas fans bore me to death. Being from Texas and that my parents live in Austin I have been to countless UT games.

And it's still louder than a full Bryant-Denny..

Some of Bama's recruits think otherwise.

quote:

"Oh man, it was incredible. I don't think I have ever seen an atmosphere like that," said Steward who stands 6-foot-2, 225 pounds. "It was probably the loudest crowd I have ever heard. I thought the noise made a big difference. Florida got rattled and couldn't recover. Florida is a great team, but Alabama was on another level. They just handled them no problem.

quote:

"It was a great experience. I have seen them now play in two big games with Penn State and Florida, and Alabama's home game environment is hard to top,"

quote:

"The crowd and environment was pretty unbelievable.

quote:

"It was an electrifying atmosphere. I thought the Penn State game was loud, but this was crazier and louder.

quote:

"The crowd was so loud in the first half, I could feel it in my chest. I never heard it get so loud there before, and I have seen them play a lot of schools in Tuscaloosa," said Ragland. "I don't think you can have the same type of experience anywhere in the country. If it got any louder, it would have hurt everyone's ears. It was insane.

It really is louder with the south upper deck complete.

I'm aware of how loud it gets at Auburn. But ppl in this thread acting like BDS gets as loud as a tennis match are full of it.

if they put ND #2, shows you this list sucks. I've been to about 15 stadiums and that one isn't top ten

Stadium wise I agree, but I found the game day atmosphere and traditions pretty cool and rank it up there as one of my favorite trips.

Bryant Denny is definitely the most NFL style of on-campus stadiums, but that can be a good or bad thing depending on your perspective. It is packed with skyboxes, club levels, chair backs and video screens.

For the size of Bryant-Denny I expected it to be much louder than it actually was. IMO Florida and LSU have the best gameday atmospheres in the SEC.

For the most part, you are dealing with a stadium with an average age group of 45-65 from upper class backgrounds. The insane waiting list for season tickets causes this. You will not find hardly any season ticket holders in the 25-35 age group because you have to be on the list something like 10 years to ever get seats, and even then, you are in the upper decks where your sound makes no difference at field level.

The lower bowl 50 yard line seats (where crowd noise matters most) have been held by the same old people since Bear Bryant was coaching and when the ref would stop gameplay until the crowd noise died down..

Hot girl in the room right now. Nothing more. If LSU was having the sreak like bama has right now LSU is #1 in the poll by a mile.

The most recent one was the UF game last weekend. Stadium's awesome, I just expected more from the crowd.

It would be nice if there were comments from opposing players. Everybody on the list is pimping their own school which is expected. I think hearing from the opposing point of view would give us the best idea which stadium atmosphere is the best.
