This list would be funny if it included actual cities that are dangerous like Jackson, Baton Rouge, and Birmingham.
But I suppose that would hit too close to home.

Maybe I'm just not getting the punchline, but assuming that's a REAL list from somewhere...uh, where did you get it and what is the criteria it's based on?

Sad that I’ve been to four of the top six.

9. Starkville, Mississippi
My how the world turns...
Seems like somebody posted a magazine article that rated Starkville the #1 small town in the south only about a month ago.

How is New Orleans not on this?

Got it from a recent government study published
Was that with you being involved doing it? I don't see a link.

Jackson not being on that list makes it suspect
Like I said he must have been involved in creating this list.

Cairo is indeed a disaster. It was once a lovely and thriving river town with cobblestone streets and fine houses. Then, race riots in the 60's precipitated white flight and the town rapidly spiraled down seemingly never to recover. Sad.

I’ll see your Sana’a and raise you Djibouti. I admit that both are hellholes, but Djibouti is a lower level of hell than Sana’a

You obviously haven’t been in Macon in a long time. In the last 10-15 years the downtown has undergone an incredible gentrification. From what was once a town that was slowly dying Macon has transformed its self into an incredible place to live and play. Restaurants, art galleries, concert halls, fancy boutiques, museums, night clubs and more upscale lofts than you can count. The worlds largest indoor Pickleball facility recently opened and it has 3 universities. It’s a college town.
More and more lofts are being constructed to keep up with the demand to live downtown and throughout the city. The music history and current music scene are fantastic.
North Macon is still wealthy and the other parts of Macon are currently experiencing a lot of growth. Macon has won several national awards for historical preservation and what they have done with downtown and the historical neighborhoods. Lots of beautiful architecture. Macon is called the city of mansions, museums and music.
It’s one of my favorite places and I spend a lot of time there. As much as I love Athens, Macon is definitely giving it a run for the money. The architecture alone is worth a visit. Check it out.
