To put OSU ahead of Alabama places greater value on one season than the other. If you are looking at a two season sample size then you value each season equally.

While I would have Bama over OSU as well, OSU is 2-0 in playoff games and Bama is 2-1. Additionally, OSU is 26-2 over the last 2 years and Bama is 26-3. So it's close, but I would have Bama 1

So, without 4th and 25, where does Alabama rank?

Yea, I think it is pretty clear that there are 2 top programs right now and a gap to #3.

Well, we would have 1 conference championship, which is the same as everyone else on that list.

It's a new world out there. BCS is gone. Only four teams can make the playoffs every year. But eight more can get prestigious, old-line bowl games which help recruiting and prepare those teams for a possible breakthrough for a playoff spot. So if your team hasn't made it to the playoffs OR a NY6 Bowl, you're falling behind in the new set-up. Argue all you want to, but that's the reality.

I think everyone already knows how it works but thanks, the funny part is the title when he could have just said over the past two years. Whatever makes you feel relevant

I don't appreciate you bringing all this hostility into my Top 10 offseason thread.

I'll make a new top 10 ranking thread that includes LSU to help you calm down

so you wanted to start a thread with a list everyone should agree with? and when did i say LSU belongs in the top 10? maybe move the goalposts some more. first it was "well Alabama is in our division". then "what if 4th and 25 didn't happen." Then bring up LSU. Outstanding argument points

I agree it's close and, as someone else said, I agree these are the clear cut top 2. However, when looking at record over the past two seasons, look at strength of schedule. Bama and OSU played vastly different schedules from a difficulty standpoint.

This is why Ole Miss made the list to begin with... There are bad losses to Memphis, Arkansas and LSU but beating Alabama twice and making back to back NY6 Bowls while playing in the SECw makes a difference.

No you idiot...the thread clearly states "top 10 programs"...not "top 10 records and division titles".

Your diminished level of logical thinking caused by a heavy diet of Abita and nutria isn't reggieray's fault.

No team that averages more than 3 losses in that time period should be in consideration.

Only 11 teams have appeared in both final AP rankings:

Team - Average ranking

Alabama - 2.5
Ohio State - 2.5
TCU - 5
Michigan State - 5.5
Clemson - 8.5
Florida State - 9.5
Baylor - 10
Oregon - 10.5
Ole Miss - 13.5
Wisconsin - 17
Utah - 19

Ole Miss is 2-0 against us, I guess they should be #1.

So what?

Who has been the better program over the last two seasons? Alabama or Ole Miss?

Alabama plays in a tougher conference and plays a tougher schedule. Yet they made playoff appearances in both years.

OSU has not.

Yeah because we obviously have a similar resume.

If they had a championship, I'd agree with that.
