I’d like to see Briles offense do a little better this year before saying he is close to HC material.

Our defense won us the 3 games we won last year.

Rewatched the OM game a couple weeks ago on SECN and our offense and play calling at times was painful to watch

No one said he was an awful DC. He was over his head as HC. Badly.

Elko should be rated higher and A&M returns so much on defense that I see him for sure getting some offers

Issue is going to be which mid-major is going to pay him more than A&M will pay for their DC. A&M will easily go to 2.5 and if their dominant I could see them giving him 2.7 or 2.8

That narrows down who all can poach him

I thought Freeman turned LSU down because he lived up there?

Maybe recruiting is better in the south, but Notre Dame would still be considered a blue blood if they flirted with .500 for a couple decades.

Elko loses value after this season. You heard it here first
Elko said he is more than happy where he is, and will wait for the right opportunity to come along. I expect to lose him in the next year or two

Yeah, it'll be curious to see who offers Elko.

Id have Freeman in my top 10 but not #2. Too many red flags and I don’t think his head is in the right place. He turned down LSU to coach for ND which is an easy way out. Everything LSU touches turns to gold and he obviously doesn’t want the gold

We just fired a DC. Tf are you talking about?

Freeman is from the Midwest and don’t act like Notre Dame is some small job so it was dumb to turn them down for LSU. It’s the premier brand in college football and the negotiation was literally “don’t worry about the money LSU offers, we’ll beat whatever it is”

There is something to be said about the SEC in total though. I want the coach that wants to be in the fire and prove himself against the best. Notre Dame can have a good record but we all know who they are every year

24/7 must have the kiddie brigade out again. Barry Odoms, what's the point?

Josh Gatti will soon be joined at the hip with Harbaugh's futility. How has he distinguished himself, even a little, in that offensive system?

Thats no shite.

But he’s young and he’s not white so that’s in demand

I think this will be Elko's last year at A&M, his defense will likely be pretty good this year so it will be a good time to hit while the iron is hot.

Surprised Jeff Lebby isn't on here.

Let us say there is probably a reason that we have been bringing in these great recruiting graduate assistants. Some will be getting on the field positions soon when Elko moves on.

They are certainly great recruiters. We will see if they can teach the game soon enough

For whatever reason, defensive coordinators don’t seem to get the same amount of hype and opportunities around them for head coaching gigs as offensive coordinators.

A&M certainly hasn't gone after a head coach who is a defensive guy in a long time (since promoting RC).

Fran- Offensive minded head coach at Bama
Sherman- Offensive coordinator in the NFL
Sumlin- Offensive minded head coach at Houston
Jimbo- Offensive minded head coach at FSU

The game is just centered around offense now.

You have to have a pretty dynamic offense to win a championship these days.
