I can’t believe Sankey let this happen. The SEC and Big 10 had all the leverage and blew it.

No they’re not. A dual system of qualification is actually a good thing. There is an objective path for teams to qualify for the playoff by winning their conference. There is also a subjective path by being one of the best at large teams.

I hope the committee does a better job than the AP writers. Teams 11-13 should be USCe, Ole Miss, and Alabama, in that order. Miami shouldn't even be in the top 20.

I’m all in favor of just playing a full-time SEC schedule and then having a SEC playoff format to determine the real national champion

Sure, there are some extreme cases where they have 1-loss Army (for example) well below 3-loss SEC teams.

TBH, I'd rather Army get in this year than Alabama.

We have 2 conference worth anything

The ACC was already third but the Big 10 and SEC just stripped the Big 12 and Pac 12 of all their remaining useful parts.

there is no doubt the SEC is the deepest and the Big 10 has maybe 3-4 good teams.

if they don’t make up 8-9 of the playoff spots its worthless.

Do you guys just want 8 SEC teams in to render the in season SEC play meaningless? Seriously what do you want if 4 spots isn’t enough?

Sankey really did blow it. I'm ready for him to be shown the door.

SEC already gets every advantage ranking wise.

1 loss SEC teams over undefeated teams in other leagues.

2 loss SEC over 1 loss

There are three 3 loss SEC teams over 10-2 BYU who won’t even get talked about as a bubble team despite having decent metrics.

Y’all have every benefit of the doubt already and are crying for even more

I get the SEC schedule is the hardest but here are other conferences in the country.

You can’t keep them out

If you keep the other teams from other conferences out with a better record why would they play games and have a season?

If the SEC doesn't get at least 4 teams in the playoff, it's time for us to opt-out Surprised that more folks here don't share that same sentiment

Conference champ tie-ins are ridiculous.

Couldn’t agree more with both takes and the fact Indiana is firmly in is ridiculous. That just tells teams to make their schedule as easy as possible.

The games those teams play have to matter tho. If you just trump them because they don’t play in the SEC, what is the point of any of those teams playing a season.

Gotta go to 16 teams in 2026, no byes. No preferred seeding for conference champs.

The only two SEC teams that earned spots are UGA and Texas. The world won't end if we get 3 in because one of them is very likely winning it.

It is when they would whip your tail. You lose to Texas don't be surprised if the rug is pulled out from under you.
