sounds like cop said turn the music down

Brown didn't, right in the cops face

cop says fine, you're arrested

If this is the case and it isn't his house then I think we're going to have some dropped charges...

No clue.
Doesn't matter what you or I think; the cop's take on it is what matters.
Bottom line: the kid prob screwed up.
Here's hoping he learned something from the deal & moves on.

Isn't that called "disturbing the peace". I just find it odd hes not charged with that.

Yep. These charges don't make sense.

Actually, if there were eye witnesses who disagree then the cop's word will not be all that matters.

No they really don't. A noise complaint and even just not obeying an officer typically results in no charges. Disorderly if you really annoyed him/smarted off or he was just a prick but resisting arrest takes a lot.

If the police used mace, then he should add a disturbing the peace charge as well just to cover himself. It just looks kinda stupid to use mace to arrest someone, but don't have a base charge to begin with.

You forget he was maced (according to twitter)

If true, he was likely being a little frickstick

he had charges to begin with

he had failure to obey

then he likely had resisting arrest

then comes the mace

I'm not. At most he made a silly mistake and will get off as a youthful offender.

Like I said--I don't have a clue. I wasn't there. I don't have a personal vendetta against Tony Brown and/or Alabama. I can be open-minded.

But most cops are decent guys (yep ... some bad eggs do exist) who aren't looking to bust up kids' lives, "just because."
Sure, I guess there's a possibility that the cop was out to get this 18-year-old kid; I just don't find it very probable. Again, it's likely that the kid screwed up.

Guess y'all will know more soon enough.

Disturbing the peace wouldn't justify the use of mace. Resisting an officer with force/violence does. The cops don't need to CYA.

This. Takes a real dumb act to turn a simple case of loud music into a resisting arrest charge.

ETA: And I find the chances of this particular officer being a bad apple very very low. He would have nothing to gain by partaking in this event. We don't even know his name anyways, and I doubt anyone cares, so its not like he's getting his own glory out of this.
