I'm hearing chatter that if all of the big names on the board fall through (Donovan, Hurley, Drew), this might be the guy Mitch Barnhart takes a flyer on. He seems pretty solid in player development and his schemes based off of a limited record.

You'll get Tony Barbee, and you'll like it.

I would be irate if I was a Kentucky fan and they hired him

It shall be Johnny Jones!

No it wouldn't. It would be an affront to truth, justice and the American way.
It bothers me that Barbee is holding any job remotely related to basketball. He should be dusting off skeeball machines at Dave and Busters or raising Chinchillas or teaching unicycle lessons, but I wouldn't wish him on any basketball program. It's inhumane.

He might be on the upswing, who knows, but yeah, would feel like a stretch.

Best case scenario now is to go after a no-name hire and sign him to a 2-3 year contract with a super low buyout. That’s what SHOULD happen, but Barnhart doesn’t know the first fricking thing about evaluating the record of a coach, so I highly doubt that will happen.
Scott Drew may have a national title, but his overall win percentage is only slightly above average and his record against teams like Kansas is pitiful. Not to mention, in his 22 years of coaching, 15 of those teams have had 10+ loss records.
I’ll take a coach that’s super consistent with only several FF appearances over a coach that caught lightning in a bottle and won the title during a year when most teams weren’t playing up to full strength.

He is probably the best coach there is at getting players ready for the NBA, because we don’t play any defense.

You might take a run at the dudes that already jumped if they haven't sign the contract yet. Talking Devries, Lutz, etc.-----

Avery Johnson is available. He'd have UK basketball buckled the hell up
