No. We can't take that away from Bama. The moral victory was created by Alabama QB Jessica Parker Wilson when he gave the great "we won the second half" quote after the 2005 IB.

Dating back to the previous season, the 9-0 Tigers had won 20 consecutive games under coach Terry Bowden and were ranked No. 3 in the country. If Auburn would have come out of the game with Georgia still undefeated, it would have set up just the second Iron Bowl (Auburn’s rivalry game with Alabama) between two unbeaten teams.

Not many people were giving the Bulldogs a chance entering this game. In their three games leading up to their visit to Auburn, the Bulldogs were unimpressive.

Georgia lost to Vanderbilt 43-30 on its Homecoming, then escaped with a 4-point win against a Kentucky team that would finish 1-10 that year, and then was dismantled the next week by Steve Spurrier’s Gators in the Swamp 52-14.

But somehow, some way, the Bulldogs pulled off the miracle tie, snapping Auburn’s 20-game win streak and ruining the Tigers’ perfect season.

The next day, the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer echoed a famous headline from the 1969 Harvard-Yale game that also ended in a tie. The newspaper printed the headline, “Georgia beats Auburn 23-23.

Alabama fans were quiet and shocked. Their Heisman candidate was disposed of. Their defense was embarrassed. Their haughtiness was silent.

However after the game they were silent. Eerily quiet. One would have thought they lost the game. The lack of the cries of "Roll Tide" was noticeably absent. But something happened.

Who wrote this crap? Bama fans quiet after the game?

Another way to look at it:

2009- an overmatched Auburn team loses to Alabama, Auburn fans don't get upset and move on with their lives.

2010- Alabama blows a 24 point lead to Auburn, Alabama fan destroys a landmark.

Now that tells us everything we need to know.

I saw that game.

To be perfectly honest, I thought what Auburns fans did for their team after that game was impressive.

They were a crappy 8-5 team and took the eventual National Champs to the wire.

Then they basically cheered for their team. Helped their recruiting that year too.

Nobody is making fun of that.

We are making fun of the written account above that was emailed to all their students.
