Sure, in the same way Iraq is filled with tough badasses and America is filled with pussies. Being poorer often makes you live a harder life which then makes you a tougher person.

Yeah, JFF and Mike. The rest was smoke a mirrors.

He specifically said defensive recruits. Obviously Sherman left enough for aTm to finish top 25 in scoring D in 2012. Much better than Sumlin has done since.

So does Steele yet yall believe in him. It is all about perspective.

"Y'all" don't believe in Steele. I've said multiple times I don't think he was a good hire.

Looks pretty simple to me, but I know seeing numbers with more than one digit can get confusing to you swamp rats.

I'll summarize it for you: A&M's offense during a down year, including a game in which we put a drunk QB on the field, is the same as the best offense LSU had in a decade.

I think both LSU fans and A&M fans are missing some important elements in this discussion.

I honestly think that Chavis will be an upgrade by simplification. Coach O and Steele combine to instantly improve the lack of recruiting by the previous staff in their spots. These points are both made over and over by both fan bases and I agree with them both.

The biggest issues that I see that aren't being addressed in these discussions ::
1. S&C
2. Culture

If anyone wants to point to a critical component of ALL of LSUs success on D despite various DCs - it comes down to those two elements. Moffitt and his staff are simply outstanding and the strides made by LSU players in their S&C as they come in are tremendous. HUGE. This has played an integral role in LSUs ability to play younger guys in bigger spots than a lot of teams in the country. A&M has a great nickname in Black Death - but his results to this point aren't clear, at best, and certainly aren't an asset on the level of Moffit and LSU.

Culture. LSU is a defensive football team. They live and breath attitude, hate, effort, speed, violence. The way they run their camps, the way they approach the offseason - the things they sell recruits. It's hard. It's tough. It's mean. Sumlin has a soft culture. He's party and swagger. He's cool and fun. It works like a fricking charm and with it he is reeling in some serious talent, but it also has it's downsides and the team culture has an impact on the defensive side.

This is all pretty accurate.

I'm not worried about Steele ruining our defense. He might not be as good as the last three guys we've had there, but if we can get some good linebacker play and intelligent playcalling on defense, we'll be fine. We still have Raymond coaching DB's, and not only is Orgeron the best recruitor in college football, he's a great D-line coach.

I'm 100% okay with that considering LSU has been to 2 NCs and won 1 in that same decade you're referencing.

LSU's 2013 Startin RB:
203 car 1401 yards 6.9 ypc 16 TD, 18 rec 181 yards

You realize individual player stats don't = the offense?

A&M
440.8 ypg
32.1 ppg

LSU
435.1 ypg
34.8 ppg

The difference? This is LSU's best offense since who knows when. This is A&M's worse offense since early Sherman years. A&M's O will easily crush this. LSU's O won't even get close to this.

LSU offensive ppg:

2007 - 38.6

Well aren't you just stupid.

Everyone with an LSU logo next to their name blends together. 99.99% of y'all think LSU made an upgrade, so you all get labeled and addressed as such. If that's not fair, for every LSU fan starting a thread about Chavis(and they are by far the most ubiquitous thread on this board for the last 7 months), start your own where you admit LSU downgraded.

Compare LSU's offense from 2007 and 2011 to aTm's last year.

I haven't looked, but I'd venture to say aTm's will be better. Or even go back 2 years. Or 3. The fact is LSU hasn't needed aTm's offense to win a bunch of games, including National Championships.

Aggies are the most ignorant fan base in college football.

Proud? No. It was a down year where we changed QBs mid year and played a true freshman yet it looks very similar to one of LSU's best years loaded with NFL talent.

Then why was it brought up over the past 9 pages?

Because after 9 pages you still seem to miss the point.

No way, really? Or maybe I was implying that Saban was the reason for the defensive success.

I really am curious as to the LSU 2011 offensive numbers and how they stack up
