Definitely AJ should be invited to NY and in the discussion. I would put him at #3-4 in Heisman contention.

Most likely Bama with 2 losses because AJ would've picked apart our defense and Johnny would be rubbing around like a fool throwing picks for every touchdown he makes.
2 losses? You dont think Manziel could score 17 points a game playing for Bama. Holy shite dude. I highly doubt McCarron could "pick apart" the bama secondary. But lets just assume thats true. Manziel would score 90 on the A&M defense.

Not a valid comparison as both teams run two totally different systems. AJ is strictly a pro-style QB. He wouldn't fit into Sumlin's system.
I agree with your statement... But dont you think being in Sumlin's system definitely gives JFF an advantage since he does get to showcase his ability more? The system is dependent upon him.

100% agree. This notion that AJ hasn't had to do Heisman things doesn't make sense to me. It's not often, but when AJ is asked to come through...he does.

I think AJ could do a lot of damage with Evans to throw to.

quote:I think the point was JFF would be successful for any team he played for no matter what. While AJ needs the correct team/system in order to be successful. I have seen AJ be pressured twice in his career and he was less than mediocre both times(Va Tech and LSU 2011)

As is any QB who is pressured consistently. Auburn made Manziel look a little human when they played them. The rush was really causing Manziel to suck it up on some plays.

My point was AJ has not been better in big time games than Newton and Tebow like someone said
Didn't Florida lose 4 games the year Tebow won the Heisman?

AJ is outstanding. Don't get too sensitive Gumps.

28-38 454 yards passing 4 Touchdowns. 74% completion. Yep he was pretty bothered and definitely looked human. Auburn gives up those kinds of numbers to every QB.

JFF has been bailed out several times by his WR's when JFF would throw passes up for grabs
There's this odd perception that this happens all the time.
I can only think of two times this has happened. Once against Bama and once against Arkansas. I may be missing one or two, but as far as "wow, what a ridiculous throw that probably should've been picked JFF's lucky there" ... yeah that's happened less than 4 times this year.
People see the same highlights again and again and assume that's all JFF does. If that were true, than he wouldn't be completing 73% of his passes.

Well first off he isn't all that mobile of a QB and one of those games you mentioned we were in control from the 1st time we touched the ball. Why try to force things when you have a multiple TD lead and your defense is playing lights out?
You should look up some of AJ's numbers when teams blitz. He picks teams apart when they try to blitz us.

AJ doesn't deserve the Heisman based on stats alone...also, throw in the fact that he has a much better supporting cast and has inferior stats makes him on the outside looking in.

This what Manziel does when there is a pass rush:

But calling AJ a game manager is the most ridiculous statement imaginable. Way more ridiculous than anything else. I think that's really our main point. AJ is a great, great quarterback and we would like people to acknowledge that.

I actually think that's high praise for any QB
