Saying that Ole Miss was better at the end of the season by Lsu fans, is trying to justify the blowout laid on yall. I could use the argument, if Cody hadn't gone down in that game, the 2nd half would have been similar and it would have been a blowout instead of a close game, like the first half. Ole Miss played an overrated TT team, like Bama when we beat them in the Cotton Bowl and holding the nations leading scoring offense to 10 points in that game. I don't take away anything from Ole Miss, but they were 3rd best last year.

Then did we kick LSU's butt all over their homefield last year solely because Nutt is a superior coach to Miles?

Just sayin'........

For starters, this thread is about this year, and Ole Miss did just lose 2 first rounders. And the LSU team Ole Miss beat down last year was on a complete tail-spin after that Bama game. Not sure if you watched their efforts against Troy, Tulane or Arky, but something was clearly wrong, and it wasn't talent.

No offense to the Tide, but IMO, Ole Miss was the second best team in the SEC at the end of 2008.

does not mean Alabama sucks/was overrated/"Utah"/or any other silliness. I think in January ,Ole Miss was playing top 5 football. They had the coveted "it" working for them.

In the immortal words of one of Finebaum's most notorius callers of all time, "Don from Downtown", "dats my 'pinyun".

23-21 against arguably the worst SEC defense in 2008...Did that 6 days make a difference?

Arkansas came out ready to play and we didn't play well. The team was just starting to turn the corner at that point, and we played an Arkansas team really hungry for that win.

Which is why Arkansas is still scary going into this season, even though I think we are obviously better on paper.

Ole Miss is talented, but I look for them to underachieve. I know that Brando has compared Houston Nutt and Nick Saban and paraphrasing it basically saying they are about even.

Over the course of the season, sure. Maybe even 4th to Georgia. Ole Miss wasn't very good to start the year. At the end though, Ole Miss was playing like a top 5 team.

Timmy B is the king of making the "cool" pick. His pick = grain of salt.

If he is refering to they have the fewest question marks then he is correct. They are returning their starting QB, and their running backs and most of their defense. They are replacing 2 linemen but they are loaded with big uglies.

Bama on the otherhand is replacing a senior QB, senior RB, one of the best left tackles to play in college football last season and another offensive linemen or two. They are replacing them with good talent but there is something to say about experience.

In addition it also assumes that LSU and TT were performing at a top level when Ole Miss played them. It seems pretty clear neither team was playing well.

It seems clear to me that Ole Miss wasn't playing well in the Bama game....If we played the first half like we did the second half, it would have been an entirely different ball game.

Giving up 34 points isn't playing like a top 5 team. Granted scoring 47 was great, but this was to a team that also gave up 65 just two games earlier.

Can this also be applied to the LSU/Ole Miss game?

They are equals as game-day coaches; in fact, Nutt may have a slight edge when he is at his best.

The problem with Nutt is that he sometimes takes the day off--but I know I am preaching to the choir in your case......

And if we hadn't lost a starting Nose Tackle, the 2nd half would have been entirely like the first half. It works both ways.

Gave up a touchdown in garbage time and a pick six. I was there, there was no question at all Ole Miss was much better. Just watch the team at the end of last year, you'll see what I'm saying is true.

I watched. They played great ball at the end of the year. No denying it. But top 5 or 2nd best in the conference is pushing it.

I'm not trying to start this...but...

No and No

So Nutt is a better game-day coach then Meyer and Saban...Seems I've heard that before

It only doesn't interest you because you know we're right.

Duke! Come on...you can't assume in your argument that I disagree with my own position. That's far to lazy and is not really the best way to prove your point. It makes it pretty easy to win the debate when you assume that people arguing against you already know they are wrong! The problem is no matter how much you assume I disagree with my own position, the fact is I don't. I wouldn't have made the argument if I disagreed with it.

That and not giving Texas Tech time to drop back and throw the football.
