He’s had one decent season in 5

And that was the DL and had nothing to do with Banks. Safeties which he coaches has been bad for 5 years...Linebackers haven't been SEC good....CB's have been below average....And Banks was responsible for said recruits...players.

Also, the offense was less aggressive during that year. Hmmm?

Tackling and zone coverage this year were atrocious. Giving up 600 yards to Vandy in Neyland is inexcusable.

Hoping Huepel goes out and hires Boom.

Bad move IMO. He was great the years prior and had you top 10 last year. The problem is hippo ‘s offense.

Tennessee led the SEC in points scored and was near the bottom in defense. What the hell are you talking about?

Heupel literally sacrificed his defense for his offense. Idk how this is so hard for people to grasp.

If I was an UT fan, I would be happy he is gone.

Ok smartass, explain to me how it is the offense’s fault when the offense led the SEC while the defense was near the bottom of the SEC.

As stated in the OP Tennessee finished with the number seven ranked total defense in 2024.

Edit: that’s in the country not SEC ranking.

I didn't watch much of Tennessee this year but an offense that scores too fast or has a lot of turnovers/3&outs, makes it hard on a defense.

It's not an excuse but it isn't complimentary football either.

Just say you aren’t a Tennessee fan without dancing around it. He has been terrible 3 out of 5 years at Tennessee with two of those being dreadful. His position group has been the worst on the defense and he doesn’t recruit

Banks defense was good 1 year out of 5. It was possibly the worst its ever been in year 5. It was time to make a change. This is a significant move by Hippo who has never fired one of his assistants. I will forever be thankful for our 2024 defense that took us to the CFP but overall the Banks regime was subpar. Heupel has a chance ti prove now that he wants to take the next step. He's recruiting well finally, now go put together an elite staff

Texas waits behind the real UT in the conference. They were here first. You can have UTX and be happy with it. Or something else
