Thoughts on neutral site games?

Football - If you are paying good donor money for season tickets the neutral site games seem a misuse of AD trust with their fans. While I do like the occasional (say once every 5 or 10 years for any given program) in special venues (say Lambeau Field) then fine. Otherwise they blow goats.

M Basketball - This is a massive pet peeve as they have taken to scheduling 200+ level teams at home then going neutral site for game you actually want to see at 500 per ticket. The better the team, the more they do this and make "donations" and season tickets a very bitter pill to swallow.

W Basketball - Generally this is a grandparents and grandchildren sport so playing games at neutral sites or playing on weekdays (especially at 9pm) ruins attendance and atmosphere.

Baseball - Home and home series are the only way to go with the possible exception of in state rivals who are not in the same conference. As example take UK in SEC and UL in the ACC. Since these are often midweek games do something like this:

Game 1 @ school #1 home field
Game 2 @ school #2 home field
Game 3 @ neutral site in-between or in next biggest city to allow non season ticket holders a chance to see their team.

As for baseball, these early afternoon games (during working hours) and the Thursday games for TV blow goats.

Most of the rest of the sports are best home and home but I am OK with schools (not venues) hosting combined events with multiple teams (say bowling or gymnastics or track & field.

I'm hopeful. It's at home. If Arkansas can beat Ole Miss and A&M, they would be 7-2 going into the game. (the schedule is very weak this year with Michigan backing out of the home and home and Vandy rotating onto the schedule) I legitimately think we will beat Vandy and go 1-2.

I like big time, primetime, 1st games at neutral sites...great exposure for the program!

Probably because you are a TV fan and not a go to the real game fan.

Wrong. Was a Scholarship Club member. I always enjoyed going to different venues and watching Alabama play against national, big-time competition....exciting experiences.

I remember when Ole Miss would play at least a game a year in Jackson plus the Egg Bowl. I hated it so I feel your pain.

I actually liked the Jackson games back in those days. At the time, the Jackson stadium was better than what we had on the campuses. It also held considerably more people than both stadiums, to the extent that when you split it down the middle for the egg bowl crowd-wise it was almost equal to a home game for both teams. As the on campus facilities grew and expanded and the Jackson stadium turned into a dump, no way I would want to play games in Jackson these days.
