don't know where the thread is right now... but the worst thing that came out of your game today is that your shot at the SEC title got really grim.
but, everyone has been noting constantly how auburn's defense was week. it's no surprise that Arkansas finally got lit up for a big game. arkansas isn't a weak opponent. period.
they say it's better to lose earlier on than later on... so at least it's in the beginning half of the season for y'all. you have plenty of top ranked teams still left on your schedule that you have a shot at beating. so your national ranking at the end of the year and the bowl game you get to is still utterly high quality potential.
bottom line is this... auburn isn't there yet... but like alabama last year, you are WAY ahead of schedule. it was probably best for the bubble to burst at a time like this, than a later time where it really matters.

+ 1000
I love the AU LSU rivalry
even if many don't consider it a true rivalry, the game itself is always a nail bitter

It was actually a plan of Auburn's all the time to lose this game. We didn't need LSU fans thinking it was a huge game and getting all jacked up for it. We want to sneak in and grab a victory without you all knowing.

That hope was a pipe dream anyway

I've unconsciously ceded the West to Alabama, FWIW. Hopefully we'll give you a game in Auburn though.

I agree wholeheartedly.

damn, your post was almost as long as auburns stay in the top 25.

Thoughts about Auburn
I won't go to deep into any analysis but I had a few thoughts about what I saw today.
1. Auburn once again started slow. This has become an alarming trend and needs to be addressed immediately. Arkansas's explosive offense took advantage of that early and they took advantage of it often, scoring 27 points in the first half.
2. Turnovers killed us, and that is all there is to it. That game might have been a little closer if Tate doesn't give away a free touchdown and Fannin doesn't give Arkansas the ball inside the 30 on fumbles.
3. The offense looked pitiful to start the game. Most of the fallacy comes back to Todd; who left his receivers out to dry and overthrew a few clear throws that would have led to scores.
4. The Auburn Defense. I am baffled, BAFFLED, at how poorly they play. I understand that Arkansas is a damn good offensive team, but they completely let the game get out of hand early, and once our offense began to click and made the game within reach, they choked it away again. With Gene Chizik, Ted Roof, and Tracy Rocker all on the same staff, I am befuddled regarding our defense.
5. Our defensive front failed to get pressure on Mallett, and he shredded us just as many thought he would given that opportunity.
6. I'm not one to conspire about SEC conspiracies, but the referees caused Auburn some serious grief in this game. Several bad calls that ruined any semblance of momentum occurred, and it hurt us badly.
7. On that same note, to go alongside several of the horrible calls, there were some legitimate ones that I attribute to lack of discipline. You do not grab a facemask of a player that is already falling out of bounds. It's just not done.
8. Boulware sucks. And I mean, he fricking sucks. A coaching staff full of winners and Chizik brings in this guy from Iowa State to coach Special Teams. What a joke he is. Our special teams showed improvement last week but regressed back to what they have been this week. Poor coverage is one of the main reasons our rally fell apart in the end.
9. Auburn is 5-1, and split @Arkansas and @Tennessee; like most predicted they would. The sky is not falling and everyone laughing at us is a hypocrite that more than likely predicted us to be one of the worst teams in the country at this point. We need to get it together and beat Kentucky next weekend.

i just pray that we don't need to win that game to go to the SEC championship. i hope we snag that honor after beating LSU.

1. Mallet was much better than your QB.
That much is obvious. Todd took a big step backwards today.
2. Little Smith dude was better than your RB's.
Tate averaged 8.4 yards a carry, Smith was 8.1 so that doesn't really compute.
3. Pigs O-Line maned up and whipped your D-Line.
That's been happening all year.
4. Pigs defense jacked that jaw resulting in lumps of dookie in aubies britches.
Arkansas defense definitely showed up today.
5. Your coarch sucks.
He's 5-1...most likely 6-1 after next week.
Good observations by you, IMO. I do however disagree with number five. I am by no means an aubie fan, but what the fluck was your coarch thinking when he removed his headset with 3 minutes left in the game? He freacking quit coaching!! That piss me off even though I dont give a shite about the aubie football program. I do know that a coach quiting will rub off on the kids that he coaches. That will not only come back to bite him in the arse, but sadly it will also cost the team in the future. Just maybe "Coach" should coach the entire game, just as he exspects the players to play the whole game. Just sayin.......

There was less than a minute to go, down by 21, and they had the ball running out the clock...not 3 minutes to go.

Good post agree with it. From what I'm hearing the defense that was thought to have some solid starting players and no depth is showing that some of the starters are not getting it done.
I agree most expected us to go 6-6 or 7-5 and we've locked that down. We have a chance to win against one of the big powers in the West and finish 8-4. Either way things are looking very good we just need some more horses to get it done. We'll be in good shape next year just young.

As much as I hate to see the loss, this may do more good than a win could. As long as you are winning, everything is going to be hunky-dorey in the locker room. As fractured as the Auburn team was last season, the coaches and everyone around the program have said that this year the solidarity is back. This loss will see if that is true. Not that any of "us" will ever know what is said or done, but how the players and coaches respond to this - do they come together and fix the mistakes or do they start pointing fingers/taking sides - will be a huge factor in where this program goes not just the remainder of the season but in the next few years.
