It has favored quantity over quality and the schools that could field all kinds of sports, namely the PAC and B1G schools. It is sort of like the difference between grand masters in chess (constantly changing) and grand masters in bridge (the longer you play the more points you accumulate) so some bridge grand master can be a crappy player and still a winner.
In this years Top 10 you have Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kentucky which means pound for pound they are doing more with less. Utx, Stanford, Michigan, Ohio State, Florida, UNC, Notre Dame is just a collection of the usual suspects of the wealthy kids at the table.

Settle down little sister. As I recall, Daddy A&M wanted to continue the rivalry but teasip AD DeLoss "Butthurt" Dodds said no way in hell. The rest of the Big 11 am conference was so butthurt that one of them tried to sue us, the rest refused to schedule OOC games with us. The only one who couldn't avoid us was Chokelahoma. Johnny Football pretty much made your big brother look like a high school team in the Cotton Bowl that year. My blowU friends were embarrassed badly by that game.

They tailgate for Gymnastics in Tuscalooasa, so yes it is serious in thew SEC. Pretty sure all the competing SEC teams are in the Top 25 every year. Not like that pussy SWC where you have lots of fair weather fans. I think they did a 30 for 30 film about the gymnastic's rivalries in the SEC.
It is why Oklahoma will be the better fit because they have the broader spectrum.
