Like a thread comparing 2011 Alabama and 2001 Miami wouldn't have a LSU fan bring up their defense.
I would think that most LSU fans would have enough sense to steer clear of that after what happened in the NC Game?

Both fan-bases, honestly.

you are talking what if's. To be honest it probably would happen, but it wouldn't derail a thread for 10 pages

Beyond that, you've got to be fricking insane if you think JJ should be credited with all the points our TEAM scored last season. He accounted for 9 touchdowns on the season and 3 of those were prior to the Bama game when Miles took out Lee in the red zone and gave JJ the glory.
I said JJ led offense and I doubt you pull for LSU. Stop responding to my posts.

LSU fans realize they had a great defense last year, but it wasn't the greatest. I don't even believe it was the greatest LSU defense in the past decade, but that's just my opinion.
Now Bama fans, on the other hand...
Posted on 8/16/12 at 2:51 pm to gallagherkck
Right. Most LSU fans think 03 was better than 2011.

What players did after they left college for different teams, under different coaches, and with different teammates has very little to do with what they achieved as a unit on their college football teams. It's fun to count draft picks but imo it has little to do with picking a GOAT unit.
Miami's accomplishments should be more than enough to have them in the discussion.

I think you know very little about me. I grew up in Baton Rouge and have two degrees from LSU. First game I remember going to was in 1981. I sat in the student section during most of Curley's reign of suckitude and watched the stadium empty after halftime. Pretty sure I know where my loyalties lie.

Go whine on the Help Board. When you post some dumb shite don't be surprised when somebody calls you on it.
This is the SEC Rant, not the Tiger Rant.

I haven't posted dumb shite. I posted facts.
I posted Bama and Osu resumes and that a JJ led LSU was the best offense Bama faced. Maybe the last one was opinion. Ha

Oh, I absolutely agree. I was responding to a post that said 2001 UM was the greatest because of how many awesome NFL players it produced. Even though 2011 Bama will have produced plenty in a few years, I think it's a flawed way of judging a college defense and what they accomplished while in college.
I actually consider 2001 UM and 2011 Bama to be 1a and 1b. It's a valid argument.

Might be right.
2003 LSU:
By the numbers (national rank):
Rushing offense, 27th, 185.7 ypg
Passing offense, 43rd, 232.6 ypg
Total offense, 31st, 418.4 ypg
Scoring offense, 19th, 33.9 ppg
Rushing defense, 3rd, 67 ypg
Pass efficiency defense, 2nd, 89.81 ypg
Total defense, 1st, 252 ypg
Scoring defense, 1st, 11 ppg
Turnover margin: 39th, 0.36 pg
2011 LSU:
By the numbers (national rank):
Rushing offense, 22nd, 202.57 ypg
Passing offense, 106th, 152.5 ypg
Total offense, 86th, 355.07 ypg
Scoring offense, 17th, 35.71 ppg
Rushing defense, 5th, 90.07 ypg
Pass efficiency defense, 3rd, 171.4 ypg
Total defense, 2nd, 261.5 ypg
Scoring defense, 2nd, 11.29 ppg
Turnover margin: 2nd, 1.43 pg
2003 team was better in every defensive category but one: turnover margin. Damn you, Honey Badger! All because he got high...

Bama 2011 Defense:
allowed: 8.2 ppg, 183.6 yards
led the nation in total, passing, rushing, and scoring defense.
Miami 2001 Defense:
allowed: 9.4 ppg, 270.9 yards
led the nation in scoring defense, pass defense, and turnover margin
I also feel that 2011 Bama played far superior opponents during the regular season as well as in the championship game.
Here are the facts. Bama 2011 was better, period. I don't care how fast you think Miami was or how many NFL players they had. As a college unit they were out-classed in a weaker conference.

No, Arkansas was.
Followed closely by their own offense every time they practiced or scrimmaged.

If your point is that LSU faced better offenses and that's why our defense yielded more yards and points, that's an argument that can be made.
You don't need to attempt to elevate anything about JJ or our 86th in the nation total offense last year to make that point.
That is the kindest, gentlest way I can think of putting it.

You Bama fans fight for every little thing.
"Oh, no! Some people think 2001 Miami was the better defense! Sound the alarm!"
God forbid

The only offense that could sustain any drive is LSU. We had the offensive line to do so. But JJ sucked balls

By the way, I love how a thread quoting a compliment from Dan Patrick re: LSU's defense for the upcoming season became yet another Bama fap thread.
Go build another statue or step off to the tattoo shop to get your "Tide-too".
My apologies if you don't think we genuflect enough at the greatness of everything Bama.
Let me show you my "#2 Nationally" sign of peace and love.
Count 'em... One. Two.

They are in the top 5 GOAT. But you can't give up nearly 300 yards a game in the Big East and allow 21+ points THREE times and be considered the GOAT defense, even if you did send 345 players to the NFL.

2012 lsu defense may compare to the 01 miami defense but nowhere close to the 2011 bama defense
