This isn’t an LSU problem, it’s an “all of us” issue

LSU isn’t an isolated locale for sexual assault and harassment. As long as jokes and comments are made amongst buddies and on message boards (e.g., Who doesn’t want to hire “big tittied blondes in the football office?”), the culture will continue.

Those of you with young daughters ... laugh it up now, but prepare yourselves for later.

Unwanted or offensive sexual contact occurs at all universities. We’re focused on LSU now, but next month it’ll be another school. Another Deshaun Watson (Clemson). Another Art Briles. More football players (NYT)

It may make some of you feel better to point your finger at LSU—they’re currently in the spotlight, so it’s understandable. But you’re deluded if you think your university isn’t guilty too. If anything, this gives Scott Woodward and LSU the impetus to act NOW, while other universities turn their heads.

Statistics tend to focus on female victims; however we all know male victims also suffer in silence due to shame, humiliation, and self-blame.

Don’t accept this stuff. It’s vile, and it’s life-changing. Be careful where and at whom you throw those stones. More importantly, be an advocate.

Then congrats on posting the picture you chose, making it sound entirely one sided

It happens far more often to women/girls.
They’re weaker and more vulnerable, as a rule.
That’s not even debatable.
Don’t be defensive; without a doubt—as I said—males are victimized too.

Never been a fan of this logic. Why not both?

Both are definitely good.
But the mindset of having to prepare young girls for future predators is far more prevalent than teaching young boys when and where to draw the line.
Not sure how that can be disputed.

But I hear you.

I see people out there on Tweeter who try to shame men with daughters for claiming they care more now.

Yes, I care far more now after 11 years of waking up every day worrying about my daughter than I did when I was barely out of high school looking at the ladies with one goal in mind.

Dads know because we know who we and our friends were before we were dads.

It really can not.

Honestly, in hindsight, it's kinda laughable that we got sex ed in high school way back when but I can't remember a single thing in that class about sexual violence. Far more worried about AIDS and pregnancy.

You’re not too bad for an A&M fan.
Unfortunately it looks like some lardasses didn’t like your completely reasonable post.

Meh.
This is a board comprised almost entirely of males (particularly young men).
It stands to reason that they’d disagree with most of my views.
Doesn’t bother me a lick.

It definitely is as far as the crime goes. The covering up is disgusting and inexcusable though. IMO anyone involved in willfully covering it up should be fired immediately. Those that were negligent should receive lengthy suspensions. Then, the people that weren't qualified to deal with the situations need to be educated and we need to make sure that there are sufficient people involved to handle reports when they come in.

My wife prepared our daughter for this long ago, and it is a prevalent problem.

I did the same with my daughter and what's really scary is that she met Guice on multiple occasions at BR bars.

Did you by chance produce the Gillette commercial?

Damn. I'm sorry for any woman that was exposed to Guice. Props to your daughter!

Leighton Meester is probably not a good gif to use in a thread about not objectifying women on a message board with a bunch of guys.

Edited for horrendous grammar and omitted words.

Then you went on to post a pic placing the blame on men. You get that, right? You can't have it both ways.

I'm sorry I can't hear you. I am busy re-watching the Grammys.
