This is why the CFP is a joke

I know this isn’t a fresh take, and I realize that I’ll be downvoted to hell. But these playoffs are a hypocrisy. Was the game late last night a classic? Yes. Did I stay up to watch it? Yes. I watch as much college football as I can, but that game should never have been played.
If the point of a playoff is to win it on the field, then that game last night had already been decided…on the field. This wasn’t the only one. There were multiple “rematches” in the playoffs. How do you endorse rematches when your stated goal (although we all know it’s about the money) is to decide it on the field?
Of course, I still watch college football. But not as much as I used to because I know the games that really count are at the end of the season.
I watch little to no NFL games until the playoffs for that very reason. I don’t want that same agenda to poison my favorite sport. But it seems to be already happening.
The NFL sneakily got around that by scheduling two regular season games against divisional opponents. That got people used to rematches and conditioned fans for it in the playoffs. Hopefully college football doesn’t devolve to that level, but the way things are going…
Rant over, Happy New Year and downvote away.

The two teams that played last night had one loss each.
Regular season still matters. It’s just not a “one and done” situation anymore.
Of all the problems with the game these days, the CFP process is far from being the big issue.

Nice try appealing to the rampant oppositional defiance tendencies on this board to limit downvotes, but unfortunately, the downvotes are well-deserved. I am privileged to be the first.
ETA: someone downvoted while I was typing that.

Stopped reading right here.
Why do you say this?
Why are you averse to rematches (I won't mention 2011)?
Frankly, your post reminds me of "get off my lawn".

Yeah but the difference is the NFL is just 32 teams and a bunch of grown men.
College football is 3 times greater in scope if you take out teams that aren’t realistically competitively viable.

quote:IMO, what made college football great, and set it apart from a boring NFL season, was that every game mattered. You had to be the best every single week, not just most of the time. The champion was the champion for the whole season, not the team that got hot at the right time and was average the rest of the year.
Why are you averse to rematches (I won't mention 2011)?
IMO, the champion should already be crowned. Indiana ran the gauntlet. They are the 2025 SEASON champion regardless of who wins the playoff tournament.
It's a money grab and I find it, like all money grabs (NIL, etc.) repulsive and detrimental to the sanctity of the game.

My favorite sport is being prostituted by the greedy.

Ish. Conference championships are no longer of any kind of relevant importance, however. Ole Miss finished #4 in the SEC and made the playoff, Miami finished #3 in the ACC and made the playoff, Oregon finished #3 in the Big Ten and made the playoff. What's the point of crowning a conference champion anymore?

How did the Jews allow this to happen?

Fair enough brother
To be fair just as much though, everything that can be prostituted by the greedy is prostituted by the greedy
