Mark my words.
And I know that the crazy arse Alabama fans out there think, "oh well, Dabo is waiting in the wings." Guess what? That won't happen either. You see, Dabo is going to win a Natty this year at Clemson, and after two straight NCG appearances and one trophy, he would be a fool to jump ship for a harder path to a championship in the SEC.

So who does Alabama go after if they can't get Dabo this year?

You didn't answer the question. Basically your post was pointless.

Maybe so.
I just wanted this out there. And for someone to bookmark it. Because it is going to happen.

Nick Saban will announce his retirement at the end of the year. He has reached the age of retirement, proven all he can, and when he loses multiple games this year, fails to make the playoffs, and faces criticism -- he gone.

So assuming your first prediction is true...

It's Bama. Dabo would crawl and you're a fool if you don't think so.

I don't agree. For two reasons.
The job is easier at Clemson.
And, it's just conventional wisdom that you shouldn't follow in the footsteps of a legend. It's not a wise career move.

Clemson cannot outbid Bama... Also you have not heard Dabo talk about this in prior years. Dream job and everybody in Clemson knows it.

Bigger issue is IF that situation comes up is he The Guy they pick. I feel pretty safe with Les if Bama job opens up FWIW!

One year too early.

I think he goes out with another NC, and I don't think that happens in '16.

As for Dabo, I would hope he gets the job. I would enjoy an opportunity to ridicule a Bama HC for failing to live up to the fanbase's outrageously unrealistic expectations again.

I've missed that these last 8 years

What makes you think Dabo would fail at Bama? He's already playing for championships. All Bama would do was give him even more resources.

He is certainly the guy Alabama wants.
But in that situation, timing is everything. If Dabo wins the National Championship this year (which I think he will) and Saban retires this year (which I think he will), then Dabo would be hard-pressed to leave a program enjoying this level of success to follow in the footsteps of a giant in a conference he isn't guaranteed to do as well in.

Timing is everything. Clemson needs a down year before Saban retires in order to get Dabo.
