I love the staff from top to bottom. I don't expect them to be Saban, but I do expect them to compete at the top of the heap.

Last fall the consensus was that Alabama was done. The Bama decline was in full effect (despite winning the SEC and making the playoffs). Saban was washed up, but was going to toil in Tuscaloosa as the Capstone crumbled. The only hope for Alabama was a coaching overhaul.

Saban retires, Alabama brings in one of the hottest young coaches in the country, and he overhauls the Alabama staff.

The new group consensus is that Alabama is done because they have a new coaching staff.

The more things change, the more they stay the same.

One thing never changes, our SEC brethren hoping and praying for the demise of the Crimson Tide. That's just the way we like it.

Everyone thinks transfer portal and NIL ran Saban away from the game. It was his inability to attract decent assistants because of the concern of his longevity. That is why he was interviewing until moments before he made the decision. Then he said f'it! We haven't had a good staff since 2020 and still won 2 SEC titles and 2 Playoff apearances.

Wow, so you think Saban couldn't attract any decent assistants? With that being said, I guess you feel much better with Deboer's staff that has absolutely no SEC experience and are basically nothing but former Indiana coaches that finished fourth in the Big Ten!

Dude, you need find a better drug dealer in your trailer park because the low quality crack you're smoking now is definitely killing a lot of brain cells! I guess it's typical Bamaroid behavior to rip the GOAT and say he couldn't attract quality assistants!

It bit them last season... remember tDecline has been in effect since at least 2020.

Saban himself said he was having problems attracted top tier coaches the last couple of years. Our offense was a mess last year. Before that BOB cost us a few games despite having BY. Had Sark been our OC we possibly win NC in 2021 and 2022. BTW Swampy Waters, Indiana ain't Alabama, and neither is Washington. DeBoer has just as much SEC experience as Brian Kelly but more accomplished. He has actually WON a NY6 bowl game. This site is going to be so much fun Bovember!

Eh, let's not get crazy.

I think they make the playoff, but I don't know if they have the QB play to make it all the way to the championship game.

LOL. Only on this board is it bad for Alabama to lose this staffer I never heard of, but Nick Saban keeping an office and consulting with the coaches is also bad.

Cope. The demise started after your last title in 2017. Saban is the GOAT, so it was really slow, but DeBoer isn’t the GOAT, and will speed up that process.

Only reason he finishes with 3 losses instead of 5 or 6 this year is because Saban coached the team up. Bama had no actual advantage over other schools other than Saban. Not a ton of money and splits in state talent with Auburn, who will out recruit Bama from 2025 on.

This is what Bama needed. The coaching at Bama has fallen off as Saban aged and they were surviving on talent. Now, they hired a grade A coach. Sure, he has to prove himself in the south but once he does the studs will come rolling in. It’s like Kirby. It took him a year or two to prove he was more than a coordinator and the players flocked to him. It’s just the natural process.
