Spoken like a true fan of another team. I see right though you and I know your allegiance is to another school with some horrible looking puke colors. Sip.

More like AJ is perceived to be less of a douche right now. Both act like spoiled douchebags and one crys a lot.

Let's not forget he set an SEC record for total offense. I wish he was at LSU.

Bray deserves an article about his efforts cleaning up trash.

At least he tried to hit the trash can

Someone I respect knows Tyler Russell and his parents. I've heard nothing but good things about Tyler and his family.

But to get back on subject, Johnny Nickname needs to understand that no one is going to feel sorry for him or whatever problems he thinks he has. I've heard people say he is a spoiled rich kid. Is that just something people say because this forum is for flaming everything and everyone, or is there some actual truth to that?

In other words, he's like most kids when you follow them around all day and flood them with attention, and then try to hold them accountable for their actions.

When a kid acts like a kid, that doesn't make it right. It just makes them immature. And when grown people hang on their every word and action, and then expect perfection out of a kid, then there's growing up to do all around.

It. Is. A. F*****. GAME.

it still blows my mind how big a deal the media is making this out to be.

they must really be hard up for stories right now.

It seems like an understandable amount of scrutiny considering that he's the only person who has ever won the Heisman trophy as a redshirt freshman. Sure, football is just a game. It doesn't take much to get people to pay attention to even less worthwhile things. People are naturally interested to see how someone reacts to becoming famous practically overnight.

I just graduated from Alabama and I met him a half-dozen times at bars. He was going after one of my wife's friends pretty hard. I don't have a personal opinion of the character of any other college football player (except CJ Mosley who somehow let himself get dragged to a sorority formal and had a miserable time, but was a really pleasant guy), but I've met the guy and AJ is honestly a colossal prick. I doubt JFF or Mett are any better, but it would be hard for to imagine someone worse. The guy is like a caricature of an a-hole.

If I had to guess, the ratio of pricks to nice guys amongst star players on college football teams is probably 4 to 1.

Amongst star quarterbacks is more like 8 to 1.

You have to remember when it comes to these star college players, most of them have not had it very hard on the football field. (Emphasis: on the football field, i am not referring to any personal issues these kids may or may not have) They were the kings in pee wee. They were the kings in high school. They were 4 and 5 star recruits who entered school on the throne and they start early, remaining the kings.

For a lot of these guys, it takes the NFL to teach them perspective, and some don't learn it untill its too late. (See Russell, Jamarcus and Leaf, Ryan among others) Others have been great all through their football life and they get to the NFL and are told that in reality, they suck. (See Tebow, Tim). But, there are a lot of pricks among star college players.

And, I am referring to the star players, not John Q Reserve Right Guard, or the run of the mill guy on the roster. I mean the McCarrons and Manziels.

The fact that other people like him are assholes or he's in a position where people usually treat him like a king doesn't make him any less of an a-hole. He's the biggest piece of shite I've ever met. No more, no less, and I judge him no more or less harshly than I'd judge anyone else who acted like that. I don't care why he's the way he is - the fact that he behaves that way is enough.

I think one thing people have forgotten about is how he's suing for brand protection (and to gain money from) sales of anything with Johnny Football

Meh. The only thing worse than a 20 year old doing stupid and immature things is people being outraged by it. He didn't hurt anyone. He's not screwing up his life. He's just a 20 year old that is learning some things the hard way.

At some point he will understand that he can't tweet or talk about his personal life or feelings to the general public if he doesn't expect to be criticized. In the meantime I think his biggest problem is it is the middle of June and there isn't much else to talk about other than the NBA Finals. When Sportscenter is devoting hours of time to talk about a kid's deleted tweets at 2AM I just laugh. Doesn't mean it wasn't stupid by Manziel or that he isn't a douche, it's just that sometimes I think people have lost all perspective on life.

I also love the "It'e going to hurt recruiting!" insanity. Yeah, cause a lot of kids make their college choices based on a deleted drunk text by a dude that says he can't wait to leave CS. Sure.

I just DGAF. A&M has had a hell of a lot of football players in the past that have said and done a lot more embarrassing things than JFF. Wake me up when its something that matters.

He's a douche, buts it not unusual to college football players, its more than common. The only real disappointment in the whole incident is that he SEEMS to not display the character intangibles that most would deem worth of being a team leader. If he wins, then none of this matters. I don't think he has to be a team leader necessarily for A&M to be successful, but I think he needs to understand that he has the potential to make A&M look very bad or very good both on and off the field.

I underlined and emboldened SEEMS because all we have our little social media nuggets and anecdotal evidence of his character, nothing concrete....so he is definite poor integrity lean, but not official.
