14 years later I'm still scratching my head on why Mizzou is in the SEC.

Because the SEC expected Virginia Tech to join and provide balance for Texas A&M. However, VT had spent so much political capital to get into the ACC that they could not go anywhere. Thus we got Mizzou. It is really not complicated.

Glad they let that stay. Too many traditions in college football are being thrown away due to the almighty dollar. Nice to see this one survived.

Actually it was the Big East. They didn’t push to get into the ACC until 2003. Beamer didnt want in the SEC any more than Miami or FSU. Missouri campaigned to get away from the Big 8 after 5 downs. Look it up. Colorado won a National Title after 5 goal line plays against Mo. Then got a punt return penalty against Notre Dame and the Rocket. Lou Holtz was gracious as always after the BS call.

About time, place was cursed like the Red Sox and the Cubs while it was gone.

Do they still have the petting zoo?

(Just be careful if the Taters ever come to play as they will be heavy petting the livestock, especially the sheep)

I have no clue.

I would trade them for the A&M yell leaders in a heartbeat though. They are that bad. All they do is act like jackasses and hurl profanities at every game with little kids and old ladies around. And the media, being clueless as usual, gives them more attention than they deserve and acts like the school and fan base actually likes them.

Where does "antlers" come from

Very early on in their existance (late 70s), the group of students that became known as the Antlers would goof around and perform a dance at the games similar to a Saturday Night Live skit known as the "Antler Dance", where guest host Lily Tomlin danced around with her hands (like Antlers) on her head. I think it was the closing for that show and the whole cast joined in and just radomly danced around with their "antlers". I think a sportswriter or announcer referred to them as "that antler group" or something like that, and it stuck.

Sometimes the answer to a question like yours only raises more questions.. like "Why?"

(there are numerous videos of that SNL dance/skit online)

VT joined the ACC in 2004. A&M and Mizzou joined the SEC in 2012.

Mizzou lobbied for years to join the Big 10 and could never come to terms with the fact that the Big 10 just did not want them. They were desperate to get out of the Big XII as it was crumbling down around them and they had nowhere else to go. They got lucky with the SEC.

That happens everywhere...including high school athletics.

That's the issue...you want 1 answer, but that leads to even more brought up. So is it wise to even ask the 1st?

that area (the turf and the Rock M), like the old Rock M hill, are General Admission - so people will sit there. It actually is one of the most affordable options in the stadium for people who can't afford to go to every game or buy great seats.
