Too little too late. They needed the computer's going into Bedlam. Not just to get them back and go from where they were.

Wasn't LSU #7 in the BCS in 2007 going into the SEC Championship game? So, I ain't betting anything right now
This.
If #7 can jump to #2 by beating Tenn. #3 can jump to #2 by beating OU.
I don't think it will happen because OU will win, but to say it's locked up already..Ehhh.

Agree with most of the OP.
However the following statement misses the mark bigtime . . .
The big difference between last week and this week was the fact that this week neither the Harris or Coaches Poll reconsidered the idiocy of OSU ranked behind Stanford and VT. Admittedly it was a bad week to be idle, but I was expecting OSU to be #4 at a minimum. I just don't see that changing enough to make a difference. FWIW, they are #3 in the AP, as they should be.

quote:Bama's upward move vs OSU in the computers is d/t Bama winning during an idle OSU week. That's it. The computers will flip back if (and it's a big if) OSU beats OU.
They were supposed to stay #2 in 4/6 of the computers and make up ground: They didn't. Actually it's a complete reversal and Alabama is now #2 in 4/6 computers. Computer superiority going into Bedlam is no longer an option.

To make up ground. You can't spring forward taking a step back. I know they didn't play but that's the name of the game. Bye weeks. Everybody has one. Every "BCS guru's" argument has been the computer superiority. Now that is not the case. Using the final, I am sure they will reclaim those spots. Although in 1 computer poll, they might not. Even with a BIG win over OU. Could very well be a 50/50 split. Maybe that's why it went from 95 to 99.99%.

what are you talking about? No they don't need the computers going into the game. Just once the game is over.

He's wrong about the computers.
But i agree Bama is likely in.
Clemson beating Virgnia Tech seems unlikely the way the teams are playing.
OSU beating OU is a toss up.
Both of those combined is probably less than 40% chance of happening. Then you gotta jump Stanford for 3rd place. It's hard to imagine every voter doing this. So instead of 25% 2nd place votes now you probably need like half.
Add all that up and OSU has a tough uphill battle. Had Stanford lost to Notre Dame things would be different, but they didnt.

i agree that its very unlikely osu makes it but this computer ranking comment is baffling me

That's because it's flat out wrong. You have good reason to be baffled.

Guy's I don't know how to make it more clear without drawing a picture in crayon.
Yeah I heard that too last week when everyone thought OSU was going to stay #2 in the computers even while sitting at home. I predicted at least a 50/50 split. This worked out even better.

You said it is too late now to pass them despite there being another week left in the season. Your comment was so beyond retarded it really isnt even worth debating.
It's easier to just call you stupid and move on.

Most of what I saw was that it didn't matter if Bama took comps this week because OSU would take #2 back after beating a top ten OU team...so I'm with them, unsure what point you're making here mate. Yes it's likely Bama is in but there's one week left, and any CF fan knows crazy shite can happen.
Unless you can show us some math as to why OSU can't take those computer scores back?

OSU bye
Bama plays #24
Bama takes lead
Bama bye
OSU plays #10
How is it inconceivable OSU takes lead back. And i dont even know what he's getting at about it being too late. That just made zero sense whatsoever.

This is what I'm thinking, tbh I thought this was what was assumed from the start (though admittedly I don't keep up with everything that closely so I could be wrong, I'm just asking for some proof of this.)

OSU- 4/6
next sun Bama - 4/6
next sun OSU - 4/6 or 3/3
Where did they make up ground just by swapping around?
It WAS 25% of the 2nd place votes needed. Now it's 35-40%. Why do you think that is?
And yes, this is taking into account VA Tech losing and OSU winning in Bedlam.

After the Bedlam game, they should pass Alabama back up in the computers. If they don't, they don't. They have to win it first, and that's a tough game for anyone.
If VT loses and Oklahoma St wins, start sweating. If both Ok St and VT wins.. you should just be a little nervous. If Oklahoma St loses, congrats on the chance to steal a NC with a fluke victory over a superior team
