I had a couple of Aggies work for me in the past. Because of the cult-like atmosphere they were enveloped in at school they could not think for themselves. Even the easiest request had to be explained in great detail. I finally had to get rid of them. Cultish cannot begin to explain their behavior. Very sad.

The SEC would have made room for A&M back in the early 90s had TX politics not forced the Big 12/SWC marriage which was never a great fit for A&M. The SEC move may have happened a little later than expected, but let's not pretend that was the only option for A&M either.

This is also wrong . . . .Nebraska, Colorado, Missouri, and others were all looking for the exits well before the Lonnghorn Network was even a concept.

So what are you saying here? That actually, these three schools were the ones that “destroyed” the Big 12? Because that’s what you’re saying.

I know Missouri wanted to go Big 10 before there was even a Big 12.

Nebraska wanted to leave because they had partial qualifiers stopped and the conference headquarters was moved to Dallas? Boy, that University of Texas is very powerful to have made that happen, single-handedly. /s

Missouri is hoping to join the Southeastern Conference but would have preferred an offer from the Big Ten that never came, a university official said Wednesday.

Missouri hoped to join the Big Ten last year but the league instead chose Nebraska. The university official said the Big Ten remains Missouri’s top choice but that conference ”has no interest.”

”That’s what’s left,” the official said, referring to the SEC.

Funny you say that. my company has completely stopped hiring Texas grads. We had one come in saying he wants 100k salary and he should get it because he graduated from the university of texas

If we never win another game, I’d lift a cold beer with my brothers and sisters every chance I had.
And I’d still be so grateful for all that Texas A&M has given me.

We’re a happy people—blessed to call Aggieland home.

That’s admirable. Just keep A&M the way it is, and by that I do not mean cultish. Keep the statues, keep your traditions. I hope the higher ups don’t let the climate change the school’s identity.

No . . .that is not what I am saying and I am pretty sure you know how it all went down. If not, this just reinforces the clueless and tone deaf nature of the Longhorn fanbase.

The Big 12 was an idiotic concept out of the gates. The Big 8 loved what they had and it immediately got disrupted by a moron, toady commisioner in Dan Beebe and the hostile revenue share discussions coming out of the southern part of the conference.

It was all too Game of Thrones and most schools realized that other conference presented better and more stable long term platforms.

A better and more informed read on how it all went down.

The first Big 12 commissioner was Steve Hatchell. You are talking out of your arse.

Oh! And you are severely misinformed to not know that Nebraska (a North school) was very much in favor of unequal revenue distributions based on the amount of TV appearances, as well as single-school networks (and consistently voted that way).

Yes, but you are still texas and there is nothing you can do about it.

And you will never be invited to the SEC.

Your premise is flawed. Auburn has won championships in football and they are almost as cultish as A&M.
