Theoretically, could any university in Texas embroider a lone "Texas" on their uniforms?

Would it be against the rules for TCU to come out with only a purple "Texas" on their unis? Does it have to spell out the full name, or the abbreviation "TCU"?
Would there be subpoena's if they were so brazen?

There is a restaurant in plano simple named "texas". That's what the sign says atleast.

I think the chance someone might confuse them with the school in Austin keeps any other school from doing that.

The school in Austin thinks they're the Arbiter of the state, when in reality they're the least Texan of us all.

Love that place, but it is in Richardson. Plano is across the street. (highway)

Texas represents the Entire State of Texas, there are Texas Museums, Designations in the State of Texas Constitution, and things like DKR Stadium are Memorials to All Texans from every school

They're too smart? What do you mean?
And limit your response to UT students, not the Austin malaise that invades the campus to get attention.

Just for some quick history - 50 years ago...
Allen was hunting and farmland.
Plano was beer stores and a motocross track called "Rabbit Run"
And Richardson was a very upper class suburb.
EDIT - oh, and by the way - Frisco was nothing but a Kubota tractor implement in the middle of nowhere.

Even though thousands of them applied to UT and were denied. Hell, even my little farm town has plenty of those.

You are asking this because you have noticed that A&M wants to be Texas. So rather than work harder in high school, it's easier to just put a "T" on everything.
Sure, TCU could do it too - but they don't have the motive. They are not ashamed that they are not Texas. They stand by their institution as it is.

Oh I know. I'm from rural west Tennessee. Graduated college in 09 and my first job was in Amarillo. The regional guy for the company I worked for lived in frisco and we had a dove hunt at his house/land in frisco in 2009. You wouldn't make it a few steps out of your car with a shotgun in frisco right now without a problem. 2009 has been awhile, but it feels like I'm talking about the 70s.

Like U LA LA does with "Louisiana" across their jerseys? Sure why not but it doesn't change who you are.

Schools in Texas have their own identity. They wouldn’t try to but just Texas across their uniforms. Each fan base is different.

I'm a Spanish Land Grant descendant, 8th generation Texan, born to parents that were born in the country in central Texas and went to Austin High School. Like many Texan's from rural areas, I am a first generation college graduate.
There are also families that have produced generations of graduates from UT since its inception.
What else you got?
I also know the University of Texas was created by the Texas Constitution.
quote:The University was not built until later, primarily because the Republic of Texas and the State of Texas had limited resources, choosing protection, among other things, as Austin was on the edge of the frontier, in Comanche territory. The University of Texas officially opened its doors on September 15, 1883, on a 40 acre site within a mile of the State Capitol.
On February 11, 1858, the University Bill became law.
The following branches were to be taught in The University of Texas: ancient and modern languages, mathematics, natural philosophy , chemistry, mineralogy (including geology), agriculture, botany, anatomy, surgery and medicine, zoology, history, ethics, rhetoric, belles-lettres, civil government and political economy, the law of nations, municipal law, and the laws of nature.
Religious tenets for admission and sectarian instruction in The University of Texas were forbidden
The Agricultural and Mechanical College of Texas was created by a Federal law that provided for A&M colleges across the country following the Civil War. This A&M "branch of the University of Texas" was built on donated land that had a railroad across it, ~ 100 miles from Austin & Houston.
Considering The University of Texas manages the state lands, wealth fund, and resources of both UT and A&M (~ $63 Billion), it does have some level of authority and management in the state.

Bottom Line: UT Austin is the most liberal public university within a red state.
Politically divergent from the majority of Texans.
