I haven't been through the western section of West Virginina so I'm open to anything there off the beaten path.
re: Why aren't brats more popular in the South?

Aldi had good brats and sausage in general as well as good prices in their meat section. But like the earlier poster, the Midwest has better options especially in Wisconsin and Michigan. Texas is so big it has a lot of every type.

South Louisiana near the gulf is humid. You have to run the a/c to take the humidity out of the air or it will be uncomfortable. If your unit is properly sized or you can zone it with window units or splits, it shouldn't be hard to manage to the heat. As for New York, they voted the mayor in knowing his position on this and other issues. Get what you ask for. Safe summer everyone

The same people who say blacks can't be a QB say whites can't play cornerback. Obviously wrong takes but it transcends to other sports. He's just stating the last 20 years of what basketball has been. Not a far off take even if it's inherently wrong.

Second this. Creede, Pagosa Springs and Cortez then Durango up to Montrose. Cross back through Lake City into Northern New Mexico.
For a shorter train trip, try Chama over the pass. Durango to Silvertom round trip can be a long day.

Did a float trip on the river from Lajitas. Stayed in Terlingua and Chisos lodge. Hot as hell after March so be prepared. Have stayed in Marfa and Alpine. Great spots in all of these areas to stay or visit. Guadalupe Mts are great hiking and somewhat short segue to Riodosa or Cloudcroft. As said earlier, underrated area

Going to the UP in September via Wisconsin. On the way back thinking about stopping in Traverse City and Frankenmuth. I normally visit Wisconsin and the westside of the UP for family but rarely cross over into the main side of Michigan. I like pub food and breweries and am looking for a few stops as I make my way down through Ohio, West Virginia to North Carolina. Two weeks by myself to burn so I can stop or stay as long as I find it interesting.

Apple cider vinegar in a cup next to the drain. At night pour a small amount in the drain and cover the drain. That's for drain flies.
Fruit flies re similar but just take the garbage out daily and don't leave decaying fruit or veggies on the counter or pantry.

This. If she has liwuid assets they will use that towards the bill. After that is exhausted, they will take whatever monthly income she has and Medicare should pick up the rest. You don't need an attorney, just a reputable nursing home. They cN back five years on cash and investments but houses and other physical assets are usually off limits do to heirship ans community property issues.

Glad for you. Retirement doesn't fit everyone the same hence the varied responses. You didn't retire so much as you gave yourself options. I wish you well.

Florida has been in a lull the last few years but overall has been a dominant program since the 90s. I see Florida getting it back on track before Ole Miss and A&M do anything more than give themselves hope. Florida reminds me of LSU....so many resources that they win big and then get derailed for a few years by questionable decisions. I already miss the LSU Florida yearly game.

Buddy of mine in Lansing, NC has a similar regular night visitor on his cameras that weighs in over 300 pounds. Also has small groups of deer, coyotes and every other woods animal imaginable coming through his property. He put bells on his dog's collars.and they stay clear during thr day.
re: What happened at your work which caused multiple people to all quit at once?
Posted by done dancing on 6/25/26 at 7:01 pm to FlyingTigerBo
A manager was removed because of shady behavior. The owner did not want to remove him but was mad because he was forced too. He then installed an idiot into the position who subsequently quit because he got caught in too many lies. The next guy was a straight up experienced hatchet man. The entire office bolted leaving him with the POS secretary who they thought was untouchable...until she got run off. What a shite show
re: STPSO Chief Deputy resigns with no notice

State statutes indicates the governing authority of the parish picks the successor. There is precedence where a sheriff appointed a successor prior to his death, Terrebonne Parish in 1986.

Wrong. The sheriff would appoint a successor if he resigns. Could be whomever he chooses regardless of rank and status if he picks someone within the office. Depending on the length of the remainder of the current term, a special election would take place if necessary.

Kinda different but same really. Sat on the back patio of my house for 8 hours while hurricane Ida hit from the north. We were on the west eye wall and had no eye pass over or break for 8 hours. Watched the neighborhood blown up with parts of houses flying by, including mine. A commercial vessel on the Intracoastal 1/2 mile.south of my house clocked sustained winds at 165 with gust of 180. But we were told it was a Cat 4. Thought the house was gonna disappear for a while. Eventful ride.

Munising to see shipwrecks. Houghton, Marquette for the downtown Escanaba is a nice port city.. If you like woods, mines, and lakes the UP is great. In Wisconsin try Door County, Minocqua, the Dells area and hit up New Glarus brewery. I visit Republic between Iron Mountain and Marquette. The summers are perfect but mosquitoes in the woods are vicious.

Spent a week during July 3 years ago. Weather was great, downtown was nice and clean and easy to maneuver. We stayed about 20 minutes south and drove the interstate and local roads with very manageable traffic even at peak times. I like the Midwest and visit every year when I go the U.P. so see inlaws. Food is surprisingly good and varied. Winters are brutal though.

A/C can put out up to a gallon per ton per hour in humid climates. Is that the main drain?
