You know that had LSU lost in T-town and then found themselves in Bama's position you'd agree that Bama & LSU are the two best teams and you'd be adamant about a rematch
And the Alabama fans would raise hell about it and say LSU should have won the game.

Tell me how many times before 2007 - or since - a two loss team won the national championship.
Did the team that made it to the big game win their division?
The only straws I can give you to grab onto is the fact that teams ahead of LSU lost allowing them to get into the big game.

quote:I understand this sentiment, but the BCS is not some amorphous system with objectively-defined goals.
The system, BCS, is to allow the top 2 teams in the nation to play for the national championship. And even though LSU did beat Alabama in the regular season, no other team has shown that they are better than Alabama. So therefore, Alabama is still considered the 2nd best team in the nation.
2/3 is still a human vote, and voters have all sorts of different motivations for voting in certain ways. Sure, some will see it as their duty to pit the top 2 teams. Others won't. Some will see that Bama already had their chance, and want to get fresh blood in there. Others won't. Some have different motivations. It's not easy to predict the subjective mindset of 200 voters, and that's what it will come down to.

BTW, I think Alabama is the #2 team.
the BCS is not a beauty contest. If the end result is the two best teams in the country playing in the NC, the objective of the BCS has been successful.

There would be some, but not as many as there are LSU fans. The truth is, a lot of LSU fans have an inferiority complex and were ecstatic that they had finally one up-ed Bama. Now, they're afraid Bama might take it back.
Not all of you are that way, but you know that it's true about many of these Rantards.
May as well just interchange the teams for this whole post.
You are full of shite if you think most Bama fans would just accept a rematch.

The giants vetting processnthat year included losing twice to the cowboys in the regular season and then getting a third chance in the playoffs and beating them by three points. Your example actually supports bamas case

The system is for the number 1 and 2 ranked teams to play- not necessarily the two best teams- we have a flawed system, we all know it but money will dictate no change anytime soon.

I am more curious as to how many Bama fans in this thread are 100% convinced they are going to the BCSCG no matter what happens to LSU and OkieSt this weekend so long as Bama wins the Iron Bowl?

because you lost by the least amount of points to the #1 team in the nation ,or your strength of schedule?
To me it boils down to 2 things:
1) Bama's loss is nowhere NEAR as bad as anyone else's loss.
2) Bama's "big" win (against #3 in BCS) is considerably better than any win the other one loss teams have.
Also, this whole "Didn't win division or conference championship" argument is foolish. We all know Conferences (and divisions) are not created equal. Winning the ACC, Big 10, Big 12, Pac 12 does not necessarily mean you are better than the #2 (or #3) team from the SEC. THAT is why the BCS has continually left OUT a clause that would require you to be conference champions to play for the title. They recognize that the two best teams in the country might come from the same conference in certain years.

Which fanbase is more "entitled" and always believes they're the better team? And which one seems more scared of a rematch?

Seriously, how fricking delusional are you? Bama wins that in a landslide. How many BS championships do yall claim?

Bama should be.

Are you serious ? Alabama, by 45 miles.

Neither side is 'scared' of a rematch.

Can two teams from the same division in the NFL play in the Superbowl?
In a playoff system it is one and done
So you think it is fair for LSU to have to play you twice, beat you twice- play an extra game in the SEC championship, win the west, win the SEC
all the while gumps sit at home and watch tv?
Gump thinking there
Some funny logic from the rantards today. Guess LSU, Bama need to replay overtime by the NFL rules also.

The clear intent is to pit the two best teams together. If you can't honestly can't determine who the best two are that is a valid argument. If you honestly believe that lsu and bama are number one and two then anything less than those two = a beauty contest. It's sad that so many here would rather participate in the beauty contest.

And which one seems more scared of a rematch?
Nothing about fear, but of course Bama wants to play LSU again, b/c at this point, it's the only way y'all are playing for a title. Not so for LSU.
