If you knock anyone to the ground on the blindside it’s a penalty. NOTHING FORCIBLE is allowed even if you generate that force only with your pinky finger

FORCIBLE

Here's the definition per the rule book.

quote:

Leading with the helmet, shoulder, forearm, fist, hand or elbow to attack the head or neck area forcibly.

That condition was not met. The hit was legal

I was only clarifying that raised arms isn't what is meant by extended arms.

Why do you think Kennard put up his hands immediately? He knew he screwed up and was making a show in front of the ref(s) that he didn't do anything?

It wasn't even the worst call in the game. The phantom PI was far more egregious.

The scenario is RIGHT OUT OF THE RULE BOOK.

all he had to do was walk in front of Nuss to "block" him.

Youre reading extended arms as forcible or not. Forcible contact was made. you can't deny that.

quote:

Blind-Side Block ARTICLE 18 No player shall deliver a blind-side block by attacking an opponent with forcible contact (Exceptions: (1) the runner; (2) a receiver in the act of attempting to make a catch ) (Note: In addition, if this action meets all the elements of targeting, it is a blind-slide block with targeting (Rule 9-1-3 and 9-1-4). Nah I just hate seeing a team get completely hosed by bad officiating - especially when they're the underdog.

Welp, it’s a W. They probably should have kept the gas on the pedal at 17-0 at home. But, hey the refs gift wrapped the whole game i’m sure.

If Nussmeier had no chance to make the play, then he should have stayed still. Had Kennard blocked him when he wasn't moving, I'd have no issue with the flag.

You are taught to be moving at all times when you are on the field. granted, not everyone does it, but you should always make an effort. (At the very least appear to be making an effort) But if a player has no chance to make a play why hit him?

quote:

It was an atrocious call, and it took points off the board. You cannot say "well, just play harder and score more points" when questionable (at best) officiating takes 16 points off the board, and a crucial deep first down completion late in the fourth.

I never said SC should just play harder. And, I actually do not believe the call should have been made, personally. He pushed him with his hands. Not really a big deal. The ref would have been better served to handle it exactly as the ref did to me. Warn the guy not to do it again, and move on.

That was the second of 2 clear pick sixes that were brought back by the refs.

That’s why we talked to the SEC and NCAA and the official record book now shows the real score of the game: South Carolina 47 moLeStU 22
