It's a good thing your AD wasn't like you and 85% of your fan base that don't give a shite if your coach has character and morality though.
Petrino is RAZORBACK football right now. We are in the top 5 preseason rankings for the first time in a long long time. We have a 35 million dollar football facility due to Petrino, we have played with the best in college football due to Petrino. IMO he deserves al beit a huge disciplinary actio...
he is on admin leave but still talks to all his coaching staff everyday via voice and text calls. He is still in charge until all this can be cleaned up. I think he is Arkansas football right now, he will be our coach on a full time basis soon. ...
Long is a figure head who had to be forced to get on a plane to go and hire Petrino to begin with. He will do what our boosters want to do and the fans support what the boosters want so I would say if he can be saved then he will. He created our new and competitive Razorbacks. ...

Sorry hog fan. Has absolutely nothing to do with character and morality. Ironically, it has to do with same thing that drives the conference in every other aspect.....MONEY, MONEY, MONEY. The legal liabilty he created for the university is why he got fired. Character and morality would not matter to Arkansas if the legal liability was not there. He hired a woman half his age who he was boning and had given $20K ahead of 158 other applicants. Seriously? If I went and discussed this fact pattern with our legal group tomorrow, they would be shitting a brick.

I would have given him another chance just like LSU, Florida, Tennessee, Georgia or any other major school. I would have kept him for the wins.

Ding! Ding! Ding!.......He would have kept his job if he had done everything (affair, cash, lying, deceit, etc.) except hiring her into a subordinate role. IMHO he would still be the coach of Arkansas (albeit embarrased and disgraced) if he had not hired her. He took any qualitative considerations out of the conversation. Arkansas is a public university supported by public taxpayer money. They are likely to get sued as it is, but at least they can now blame it on a "rogue" employee. Couldn't do that without firing him. Keep in mind there are at least 158 potential plaintiffs who lost out on that job (not including his mistress) and you can bet their phones are ringing off the hook. This is Corporate Law 101 and nothing more.
