The constant seperation of fellow countrymen and women into groups seems to be driving us apart, rather than bringing us together.

We're gonna disagree on this, but that separation was driven by cis, hetero white men and has existed for a long time (e.g., race was a construction created to prop up slavery as an institution). The shift now? Those marginalized groups have more and more political power (in some ways and not in others, if we consider wages, health outcomes, lifespan, media coverage of crime, etc.). And so you're resisting those shifts. Someone has told you that those shifts mean that you're under attack. (Maybe your worldview is, for sure.) So, u mad.

Now do how much of that coverage was negative.

Its not the media's job to tow the President's line.

Wanna know why the recent Trump interviews with Jonathan Swan and Chris Wallace got so much attention? Because they were literally the only 2 media people who fact checked him to his face when he lied.

Hell, Chuck Todd from NBC News interviewed Hillary Clinton tougher in 2016 than anyone from that network has done with Trump since then. Even NBC's White House press corp.

Yes, of course we're gonna disagree on that. But that is the crux of the matter. I believe this worldview, that white men have set up a system of oppression, is deleterious. It will not end well.

And I believe that is what we are arguing in regards to sports. That there is a way to present sports without this worldview (a neutral viewing), which is what we used to have 10-20 years ago.

Politics and sports collided on occasion, but it wasn't the constant undertone. That is what we are getting from ESPN and the media in general. The national anthem is political now. It didn't used to be.

It was not it's sole purpose to "be" oppressive. It's sole purpose was economic freedom without a ceiling (or floor), and that system means somebody wins, somebody breaks even, and somebody loses. The issue became when one group lost more than breaking even or winning, based on historical inequities.

I'm of the belief that if economic inequities with Black ppl are addressed, a lot of longtime issues will begin to fix themselves (crime, bad schools, etc). And not from a freebie standpoint... from an entrepreneurial standpoint.

And this is a worthy discussion to have. I think there are some issues that should be addressed and there should be debate on how we address them. I also think America is a pretty decent place on the whole, even though it isn't perfect.

But I, and many others, would rather keep that outside of sports. Sports has actually been the one thing that has brought ALL Americans together. Especially football.

I can respect all this. Definitely need to come back together. I just don't mind athletes using their voices to bring these ideas/debates to the forefront.

And yes, there are far more better things about America than negative. I just wish we stop seeing other Americans as an enemy if they're perceived as being on "the other side"

Yes. Continue name calling rather than presenting any sort of logical argument.

You are an idiot. The sports media is dependent on sports for livelihoods.

The morons who called SARS-CoV-2 a hoax were the people who put US sports on life support.

IMO green trumps (no pun intended) black in this case and ESPN stands to lose WAY too much money if we no longer have college football.

ESPN and their sports writers are employed by ABC. They might have views like you and me, but they have to tow the company line or they'll get axed in a NY minute.

ABC and ABC News is tainted hard to the left.

i have been paying attention to the liberal lies & deceit coming from the Democrat Socialist Party for years.
where have you been?

you actually think Biden is a nationalist? if so, then i am sure the fakenews you watch and listen to has done it's job.

Biden has been a globalist way before he was attached at the hip to the Obarry administration.

educate yourself. it's not difficult.
