In this thread it is for the most part. Most sports writers who are pushing cancelling or postponing the season work for mainstream media institutions.

Are you just referring to sports writers or all of sports media? I mean, ESPN has thr SEC Network and the ACC Network. Without college football, those networks cannot exist. Are you suggesting that ESPN is trying to destroy college football as well?

ESPN is the home of "woke sports journalism." Hell yeah they are trying to destroy college football as we know it!

We will just have to agree to disagree. IMO green trumps (no pun intended) black in this case and ESPN stands to lose WAY too much money if we no longer have college football.
Definitely appreciate the civil discussion though.

All of the people that cover college football seem to be rooting for the season to be cancelled. They tweet and report about the season being cancelled endlessly. Just an observation...
I can vouch for that because I see exactly the same thing.

You haven't been paying attention, they badly want to be "proven right" by having the season cancelled.
Being right doesn't put food on anybody's table...

Do you realize how ridiculous you sound by not getting that the mainstream media is no friend to rank and file U.S. citizens? They are out to destroy every institution that U.S. citizens are attached to as a means to get their way and install Biden in the presidency and have open borders.
To what end?
Why is it that anything that isn’t straight out of the GOP a conspiracy consisting of communists trying to emulate Dr. Evil and destroy the world with the end game being the destruction of the world and that’s it?

Mainstream media refers to large, conglomerate news organizations -- mainly newspapers and broadcast media. In recent years there have been mergers and acquisitions by various companies that have resulted in a "Big Five" that controls most of the news and information, and the way it is reported and disseminated. The five conglomerates are Comcast/NBC, Disney, Fox, WarnerMedia/AT&T, and Viacom/CBS.
They all have an agenda.

What power does a sports network with no sports to cover have exactly?

What do sports networks have to do with what he claimed?

I think they might see the virus issue as a useful front for eliminating amateur status. Not saying that I disagree with that ipso facto, but it seems like it would strengthen the hand of large corporations over leagues and universities in negotiations

Not destroy the world, but if you don’t see that there is an effort to completely undermine America as the lone superpower and move away from nationalism towards globalism I dont know what to tell you. Maybe you’re not up on political history and events, and the ebbs and flows of things in governments. If you aren’t it’s probably hard to pick up these patterns that seem so blatantly obvious to many people.
There is an effort to undermine nationalism across the world. It is happening via culture and media manipulation and propaganda. One of the biggest cultural drivers in the US is sports, particularly football.
I can’t open your eyes to it. That’s up to you. You can call people conspiracy theorists or you can give it an honest open consideration with the events of 2020 and over the last 5-10 years.
Has nothing to do with “Q” or anti-vaxxer conspiracy. It’s more to do with the same exact cultural revolutions that have happened over and over the exact same ways throughout history, only throw in social media and modern society.

I dont completely doubt there are forces that want this, but if that were the case across the board, why is Trump's opponent running on a nationalist platform?
Trump's lasting legacy will be the restoration of American econonic nationalism. It's become too popular (and damn long overdue) to ignore.
The days of the U.S. getting led by foreign leashes are over. Especially once we get rid of Russia's residue.
All that said, I still don't know how any of this connects with some sports media folks not burying their heads in the sand like the rest of the South tried to do all summer.
