Lord, not this crap again. I'm thrilled with Miles and wouldn't trade him for anyone, though I'm gratedul for the job Saban did when he was at LSU. Simple as that.

Even Coach Bryant had a couple down years. And there's no denying that he's the greatest of all time. I'm not comparing Coach Bryant and Coach Saban, but he is currently the best coach in the country. He is ONE OF the best coaches to come around since Coach Bryant. But every coach, no matter how good they are, has some down years. Last year didn't turn out as expected, but we had a 10 win season and finished ranked fairly high. The place in the division doesnt mean shite.

So if Miles wins his second ship this year,

Slow down there. Easy now. Only one game. The Nov. 5th matchup between Miles and Saban goes a long way into saying who has the upper hand.

I like Miles' coaching, their two styles are completely different, but Miles has gotten the job done. Yeah he had a bad season in 08, but their were a lot factors that made the team bad, it wasn't just his fault. Miles has proven that he can win the big games. Him and Saban have the same bowl record, but Miles has had bigger wins in bowl games. Miles lost to Penn state in a mudfight, Saban lost to frickin Utah in the dome. LSU had the upper hand on Ohio State the whole game, but Bama had a little bit of trouble with Texas even though Colt McCoy was hurt. Miles won big games against Miami, Norte Dame, Georgia Tech, and Texas A&M. IMO Miles does a better job at getting his players ready for bowl games, even with his easy going attitude.
Oh yeah Saban lost Utah

You mean the game OSU lead 10-0 at one point right? The game LSU won by 14 when Bama beat Texas by 17 right?

You mean the game where LSU led 24-10 at the half? Ohio got a TD in the 3rd and one late in the fourth when the game was pretty much over. Bama played Texas when they were missing Colt McCoy and had a freshman qb. LSU dominated Ohio State more than Bama dominated Texas. Ohio state had their starting qb in the game and a good team. Also can you explain how Saban lost to Utah and UL-Monroe.

They are both great coaches and each will retire at the school they are at now. The game between UofA and LSU will be for the MNC.
Trust me.

Les. When Les leaves LSU I'm moving to wherever he's coaching.

I actually think they have pretty much the same coaching philosophy. Play tough defense and special teams. The rest will take care of itself. But Miles is much more personable and likeable. Plus, he's at LSU, so I think he's the best!

LSU blew Ohio St out, just like they blew out Oregon. That game wasn't in doubt once LSU started rolling.

Don't look like a fool.

Bryant had very mediocre seasons in 1969 and 1970, before going on a run for the ages. You don't have a title contender every year.

Alabama led Texas 24-6 at the half. Alabama took their foot off the gas and Texas scored two TD's on busted coverages. Everyone also seems to forget Bama's starting QB had broken ribs and attempted exactly 11 passes.

I'll offer my theories on UML and Utah. Bama seniors in 2007 did not buy in and were suffering through their third straight mediocre season. They we pushed like they had never been pushed under Shula and the folded the tent when they lost to LSU. Utah was several factors, IMO. You had an overall pretty young team which felt they had nothing to play for anymore. Andre Smith was sent home and two other starters on the offensive line were out with injuries. After giving up 48 sacks in the first 13 games they gave up 8 that night. They found themselves down 21-0 before they blinked an eye and it was too much to come back from.

I'll take loses to Utah and ULM if that got us the win in Pasadena. At least we didn't have to to sit around and have to depend on other teams crapping the bed to get out 2 loss team in the title game.
