Aint gonna happen.

The B1G media rights are up in 2023 so they may get a huge jump. The jump on the chart is an estimate I'ma ssuming (and maybe a good one for sure), but what is clear is that if you can get into the SEC or B1G you do it ASAP; they are basically doubling the other schools.

Plus with LSU about to get the death penalty, the SEC will be in good shape.

UTexas does not add anything athletically or academically to the SEC
They do have a lot of money though, and boosters that are entitled because they donate that money.

How the hell did Mizzou do anything to bridge the way to get OU/UT?
Posted on 3/15/22 at 1:49 pm to OU Guy
Mildly surprised the Big 10 is still projected ahead of the SEC in revenue until 2025. Know they were in 2020, but dropped in 2021.

I agree with you, but they are going to try. There is not a more arrogant, entitled university in CFB. Their culture will not sit well with most of the rest of the SEC.

Only reason we got stuck with Mizzou is because UF’s president at the time grew up in the state.

This is a really well thought out and nuanced post. But this:

A top 10 brand without question, arguably top 5 since joining the SEC.
Is debatable.
A better debate would be if A&M is top 5 in the SEC.

C'mon, I hate the Longhorns as much as anyone, but they are an academic and athletic powerhouse.
Considered a "public Ivy", their academic programs are highly ranked across the board. Their athletic programs are consistently ranked in the top 20 (if not top 10) in *all* sports. Multiple national title contenders every year.
Most lucrative AD in the country. Like Notre Dame, even when the Longhorns suck, people (and media) still follow and care about them. Half their games will be marquee matchups with national appeal and high TV ratings. Not to mention the old SWC and Big12 rivalries.
Plus, and perhaps most importantly, it gives the SEC a monopoly in the most fertile recruiting territory in the land. That would be the state of Texas.

Read the OP... It's fully explained.

Keep telling yourself that. And I suggest actually reading the OP.

It's all about money. Texas and Oklahoma have massive tv audiences as well as merchandise / ticket buyers. So does Texas A&M even.
Mizzou is the only real headscracher decision.

It's because Texas A&M – along with Missouri – created an historic, cultural, and geographic "bridge" for adding Texas and Oklahoma down the road.
False. Arkansas is the bridge to Oklahoma, not Missouri.
The state of Texas already borders both Louisiana and Arkansas, AnM wasn't needed as a "bridge".
In fact, I have it on good authority that the SEC wanted Texas, not AnM, but Texas was tied up in so many legal obligations worth a hundred million dollars with the Longhorn network that it wasn't feasible to add them, at the time, in 2011 when this was being wheeled and dealed, and the SECN was just rolling out.

This is true, where I'm at atm in central TX, the three most common college sports teams support I see by far are UT, ATM, and LSU.

No matter how you slice it....all this was started by one J. Frank Broyles and the Razorbacks.
Arkansas wanted out of the SWC (which was 8 Texas schools and Arkansas). Texas thought they ruled that also, which led to the desire to leave. The SEC was the only place Frank wanted to go and they were wise enough to see the future too. Go round up USCe and make it happen. Done.
When that domino fell...all the rest of this was just inevitable. It's actually surprising that it took this long.
