Let me tell you from an Alabama perspective.

I started watching football in the early 70's. I didn't see the 60's but I heard about how dominant we had been. I heard about the first Rose Bowl team not from the Big10 or Pac coast, etc.

Well, according to the pundits all that shite was over.
We were about to go to Los Angeles and face number one USC. We had zero, ZERO chance of even being around at halftime. Well, we won. Beat a team that would be dominant in 1972. In 71, we Went on to play for the national championship.

It kept going, 1977 we had games against USC, Washington and Nebraska. All top 10. We beat all but Nebraska who we demolished in 1978. We beat a Penn state team in the Sugar Bowl that many said was the best team ever assembled. We won like 108 games and 8 conference titles that decade. early 90's we go from Sept 91 to Nov 93 without losing. Now this run.

Point being, what did people expect? That we would suck forever? We have a ton of millenials on this board who have no idea about anything before they were born. Don't want to know. Don't care.

We're good. We've always been good except for those few probation years when the posters on here started watching football. That was not Bama, this is.
There was never one doubt in our minds that we would be back and be back by Bama standards. We're not over the moon about this season because we knew it would happen. We told ya'll it would. People always say, in the 70;s too, oh, not this year, they lost too much. Yea right. We replace people with BETTER people. Nothing lasts forever but Bama will not be down more than a few years at a time. Some schools go 50 years, 75 years between titles. Some don't win them at all. You will never see Bama go through a drought like that.
I hear we'll suck when Saban retires. Uh-huh. Nah, no we wont. Football championships are what we do. Check out your history.

I must be your age because I have the same experience. I would add that we might not be THIS damn good after Saban until we get another GOAT coach. Historically speaking that happens every 25 years or so with a damn good coach for some period in between (ie. Thomas and Stallings). In college it's the brand that defines you and ours began in 1925 with Wallace Wade and our first Rose Bowl and NC.

Does the team in your division, who's constantly keeping you from competing for the division title, hurt your team?

And your answer is "no".

If you take time to think about it, Saban's Bama teams are the most head coach-centric great team since Joe Gibbs' Redskins. Pretty much every other great team from modern times had at least one transcendent, indispensable superstar. Urban Meyer's Gator teams had Tim Tebow, Belichick's Patriots have Tom Brady, Popovich had Tim Duncan with the Spurs Pete Carroll had Matt Leinart and Reggie Bush at USC and later on had Russell Wilson, Earl Thomas and Richard Sherman with the Seahawks.

Saban has coached in eight SEC Championship Games and had a different starting QB for every one of them. He's won five national championships with five different starting RBs. They've lost great players and top assistant coaches and none of it has really mattered. I can't think of another great team outside of Joe Gibbs' Redskins who was able to remain dominant no matter how much the personnel changed.

The answer is no.

Bama is so high up in the clouds that their success doesn't hurt my team's success. Just the opposite.

Before our November meltdown we were ranked by the committee in the top 4 despite a loss to Bama (and over undefeated teams). The reason why is partially due to Bama's reputation rising all the boats in the SEC.

I mean, despite the Bama loss we had a shot at a national title. You can't ask for more than that.

My team is keeping my team from competing at the highest level (aka in the playoffs). Not Bama.

2011 showed us all you don't have to win the division in the SEC to win a national title. I figure a LSU would have learned that lesson well.

Hell if that makes me a cuck, then Joe is a cuck for not hiring a head coach that can actually compete with Saban. Joe decided to go the cheap route and wait out Saban the best way he could.

I am basically doing the same thing.

Is Joe openly rooting for Alabama now becuase LSU can't beat them? No, no he's not.

You're a pathetic individual. I feel sorry for you.

My second favorite team is LSU. Always has been. Love their style, passion and history.

I live on the gulf coast and it's kinda different down here.

Love the Saints also.

I hate a-hole fans from all teams.

I moved to the coast a few years ago. There is no place for bandwagon fans like here, and that includes ones of LSU.

No, but unlike me Joe is making decisions that make it so LSU can't compete with Bama.

I am just a fan. Who I "root" for doesn't matter in comparison to the decisions Joe makes.

Woah woah. Why do you feel sorry for me? I am doing what I can to get enjoyment out of a sport that exists for entertainment purposes. This isn't life or death, and who I root for changes nothing important.

I am actually pretty happy, we Aggies have never had a situation before where another team's success helps us out. It is usually the opposite.

If Bama winning titles helped aTm, you wouldn't have the same record for the last 4 years.

I would argue without the SEC brand (which is mostly Bama) propping up our recruiting the last few years we would be even worse off.

And just because we can't take advantage of what Bama's success gives us doesn't mean the advantage isn't there. We were ranked 4 by the committee after not proving shite and having a joke of a program for a decade.

If that isn't Bama's success propping us up then I want to know what it is.

Dude, you can't magically become a Bama fan just by saying so. We have standards to uphold. Please take the following questionnaire to see if you qualify:

1. Have you ever threatened anyone with a deadly weapon as a result of a sports contest?

a) No, sports aren't that important to me
b) No, but I have been in some fistfights
c) Yes, of course
d) There was no threat involved, I just straight up killed them

2. Who is the most important person in your life?

a) No one, I walk this world alone
b) A friend/family member/loved one
c) The current coach of my favorite sports team
d) A former coach of my favorite sports team who died before I was born

3. How do you decorate your home?

a) Like a normal person
b) Same as above, but I do have a few items of team-related memorabilia tastefully placed here and there
c) With photorealistic oil paintings of great moments in my team's history
d) Everything I own, including my single-wide, is branded in my team's logo and colors

4. In what area of your life would you say you are most proud of your achievements?

a) Career
b) Family
c) Spiritual
d) Sports fandom

5. When going out in public, what is the most appropriate shirt choice to show your support for your favorite team?

a) None, team-branded apparel is for gamedays only
b) A nice polo or button-down with a small team logo
c) A t-shirt obtained from Wal-Mart
d) Shirtless to show off your tattoo of the person from question #2

6. Choose the most appropriate word(s) to complete the sentence: "___________ is/are the greatest threat facing America today."

a) Racial discord
b) Nuclear proliferation
c) Terrorists
d) Tigers

Now tally up your answers, awarding yourself points as follows:

For each "a" answer: 0 points
For each "b" answer: 1 point
For each "c" answer: 2 points
For each "d" answer: 5 points

If you don't total at least 20, you're not ready for life as a Bama fan.

I am serious as shite. Ok well Bama isn't my second favorite team- I like UF too much. But they are third for sure.

And Bama's success does help my team, you haven't disproved that yet or told me why we were ranked 4th when we didn't deserve it.
