He saw the talent, but he wanted to push both JFF and Jameil to be even better so one didn't rest on their laurels (plus JFF was a little careless with the ball that spring in spite of his talent).
He has a history of doing such.
It's not like he's indecisive. Very much by design.

QBs in a Sumlin offense haven't thrown fewer than 430 passes since 2007. I look forward to the lulz of having a true freshman throw it that many times.
