Yall - we’ve been through it. We saw the same thing happen with Ed Orgeron. Caught lightning in a bottle with a generational QB and put a great run together. Once that team dissolved, it was downhill fast. Golding is the Mississippi equivalent of Orgeron - encapsulates the whole “he feels like one of us” thing. Only difference is yall aren’t winning a natty like the greatest ever cfb team. But just as we did - be loud, proud, and insufferable and enjoy it while it lasts bc once Chambliss is gone (unless of course he gets TRO for a 7the season) it’s over and yall will be wishing you still had Kiffin.

Are we just ignoring all of the work Orgeron put into it by coaching LSU 2.5 seasons before 2019?
O fell apart because he reached the mountain top and then went on a victory tour instead of getting right back in the lab like Saban used to do.

I can’t shite on Whiskey Pete this week. I thought he would run the train off the tracks this year but it’s apparant he hasn’t. And I thought he did have a good game plan last Saturday.
But the real test of how good a coach he is will come once he has to replace everyone next year.

Yeah, I was gonna say, coach O was there for a couple years before the 2019 season, he came in a few years before right after Miles was fired, right? I have forgotten all of that lore. Was it midseason Miles got fired? It was like after playing Auburn or something.
I do get that Burrow was really a huge part of why 2019 was so great, but again, it’s not like Ed O’s magic first season. He had also been on the LSU staff awhile, too.

Correct. Les got fired during the 2016 season after the Auburn loss, which was wild in and of itself because LSU looked to have won the game on a passing TD, but time had expired.
O then finished 2016 as interim head coach. He coached 2017 with Danny Etling at QB.
Burrow then played two full seasons in 2018 and 2019.
It wasn’t like O took over and then won National Championship. He did actually put in the work and built the roster up.
