I am not surprised at all. It sucks that people are doing this to his family, but it is not shocking. You can't fix stupid, and we all have some stupid fans.

I personally, don't want revenge for what happened. I'd rather let the judicial system handle it. It makes me ill to hear Auburn fans say this as well.

Death threats to children over a tree...
Sounds like reasonable folks in Alabama to me.

well, I guess the Auburn fans need to spin this and blow it off as no big deal the way the Alabama fans spun and blew the poisoning incident yesterday.

When I found out about this I knew that it was going to bring out the nut-cases, but death threats? Seriously?
It's a tree, I know it is sentimental and there's a lot of tradition behind it, but when it's all said and done - it's a fricking tree.
As said, we all have stupid and crazy fans (see Arkansas when Nutt was on his way out), but threatening children over a tree? The people that do that need to be locked up, and anyone who is ok with those threats need to be locked up along with them.
I also agree with SugarHog, I think the Auburn - Alabama rivalry needs to be put on the back burner for a few years.
End rant.

We could always use Tennessee's line. Any pub is good pub.

It's a fine line... I can see how if the situation was reversed, and it happened at Alabama, I would at least want Auburn fans to feel the same loss for something that was such an iconic symbol of good times. It represented what was good and fun about college football for you, and a man who didn't even go to college would have no respect for that.
At this point, I don't know what Alabama fans could do to try to make something right for the sake of the tradition between the two schools, but when people say all Auburn wants is revenge, it makes me ill. Everyone knows that if someone takes revenge, we are headed down a road of reciprocating vandalism, probably by people who never went to either school.
I am one that does not want revenge. I love our rivalry, but things are seriously getting out of hand. Pranks are great, destroying things is not. Let alone threatening people. The justice system will take care of it.
There is a fine line between being proud of a fierce rivalry and being ashamed at how idiotic the fan bases can be.

Henry Kissinger and Hillary Clinton have been requested to broker the peace talks in either Malta or Oslo.

What is worse, giving a guy death threats for destroying our most iconic tradition and a 130 year old tree?
or giving a 17 year old kid death threats because he switched commitments?
